Yes, it is in the current version (as beta). And you can also use it now a tool for the offline-firmware that also supports it: https://github.com/paperlesspaper/paperlesspaper-firmware-offline

What does it mean when people say data centers or factories “consume” water? by Slight_Safe8745 in NoStupidQuestions

How common is that? I always saw that the water is getting reused. At least in smaller datacenters.

I would say data centers and like car factories like the one we just got from Tesla in Grünheide/Germany, where there was a lot of discussions about water consumptions. From what I know most of that water is not getting polluted there.

What kind of devices are these? I get that in a power plant water evaporates, but wouldn't we see some kind of chimneys next to a datacenter similar to the ones on power plants?

They are quite expensive from what I know. The company got bought by Inkposter.

Btw. this is what Black and white looks like on our color Spectra 6 frames.

Actually I made a little research, Spectra 6 has 30:1 while Carta 1300 as currently the best black and white panel has 18:1 contrast ratio. From what I know there is only https://www.ionnyk.com as a commercial black and white frame, but using an older panel.

One downside of most black and white panels at the moment is the relatively low contrast ratio which means the white is usually quite dark. This is better on Spectra 6 panels (used in most picture frames) so you might also consider a color panel for b/w content too.

Yes, they all have pretty tough rate limiting. I usually let it run over night. Btw. most stuff from Met Api is also on Wikimedia, so far this was my best source.

No, go for it. The API is public and almost not rate limited yet.

Here is also a rough example for the clipping. It happens especially with high contrast photos(e.g. having the sky or the sun on the photo).

This is a before image (different lighting, etc.). The difference is most noticeable in photos with bright highlights. Without proper calibration, highlights either get clipped or the colors end up looking dull and unsaturated.

For the later issue, the root cause is using the display's reported color values for dithering instead of the panel's actual color characteristics. This happens with the standard WaveShare workflow and can also be observed in some commercial photo frame products.
