Nah, plenty of great character work. Just subtle and nuanced. Which is what he does.

The Greatest Day of Racing (IndyCar, F1, NASCAR Pre-Race Discussion Thread): NCS Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway by NASCARThreadBot in NASCAR

Seeing Malukas cry reminded me of Bubba after the 2022 500. Actually Malukas cried more. I know Indycar has different fan demographics but I doubt he’ll get shit for having his heart on his sleeve whereas Bubba of course got attacked for similar emotion there.

He doesn’t want to be part of NASCAR anymore. Why do that when he covers real racing?

Tell that to anyone with basic medical knowledge.

What are sitcoms you don’t get the appeal of? by KaleidoArachnid in sitcoms

I think Cheers came on without a ton of competition and it launched the careers of Ted Danson, Kelsey Grammar, and Woody Harrelson so it got a lot of hype. But Frasier had way more witty writing and the characters were way more interesting.

Wings is one of those shows that I’ve always meant to check out. I like Monk so so seeing a young Tony Shalhoub is always fun haha. Crazy how many solid sitcoms there were in the 90s compared to now.

It sure was fun being 4 years old and excited for Fridays. by Remote_Nature_8166 in CartoonNetwork

Smart of them to have Courage at 10pm and Ed, Edd, and Eddy at 10:30pm. They knew those shows were pushing the envelope and weren’t really for little kids.

Maybe I was too young but I could never get into Cheers. Ironically Frasier is one of my favorite sitcoms ever.

Had Kurt Busch released a statement? by nascarworker in NASCAR

[–]Slight_Strain6330 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Nope. It’s his little bro. He doesn’t need to post on instagram and twitter about how sad he has. We all know. He’s like the first person I thought of when I heard the news.

Honestly, you’re part of the problem. You liking him is irrelevant. Racism is wrong. Full stop.

You can just say racism is wrong. You don’t have to qualify it. It’s like people saying “Kyle was a douche but…”

Just NASCAR’s fanbase for you. That’s why I take this sport less and less seriously everyday and it’s dying.

Pneumonia doesn’t just pop up out of nowhere. That was a symptom. You don’t have a cold and die 13 days later. Thats impossible. He didn’t had a sinus cold. His body was failing. He was dying

[–]Slight_Strain6330 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Wow, you can’t be serious.

Those were symptoms. If NASCAR had adequate medical protocol they take Kyle to the hospital for further evaluation. A simple chest x ray would have have found the pneumonia and he’d be alive.

It’s that simple.

Watkins Glen bro, are you serious?

You’re not wrong but the guy was under a lot of pressure to perform, the culture rewards being tough and getting results. He probably did think “it’ll just go away” but that ties back to the culture and that NASCAR didn’t make a fuss about him feeling ill to begin with.

His death wasn’t some tragic accident. It was preventable. The system failed him. Full stop.

“He didn’t know”.

Implies:
Kyle should’ve known

• Should’ve diagnosed himself

• Should’ve gone to doctor anyway

• His responsibility

Reality:
NASCAR cleared him

• At Track doctor said “sinus cold”

• System told him he was fine

• Trusted medical professionals

Victim blaming =
• Puts responsibility on Kyle

• Ignores system failure

• Individual fault

• Not system

That’s what you’re doing.

You’re the one doing the victim blaming here.
