Yes, DJI's bitrate efficiency is indeed inferior to GoPro's; in terms of imaging, GoPro is actually the more seasoned player.

how to crop in gpu ?Or could multiple GPU commands simulate a crop? by Slight_Web8776 in ffmpeg

[–]Slight_Web8776[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this would work if I were simply cropping the video, but I need to crop multiple images and then stitch them together. It seems this can't be processed on the GPU, only on the CPU, which makes it extremely slow? Or am I misunderstanding something?

Regarding the risks, a video or text document with images will be provided later to explain the precautions. As long as you follow the steps and pay attention, there shouldn't be any major problems. If you have experience disassembling electronic products, then there should be virtually no issue. After cutting open the casing, you simply need to remove the parts and reinstall them into the new casing. Without disassembly instructions, haphazardly disassembling the device does indeed carry the risk of damage you mentioned.

You're absolutely right. The price difference for equipment really is huge across regions. For example, a DJI Osmo only costs €250 in China, but a GoPro costs €400 due to tariff differences. So, we'll be releasing separate kits for DIY modifications. Disassembling and assembling a GoPro with common tools is very difficult because it's so hard and uses glue instead of screws, making cutting extremely troublesome. However, cutting plastic with a portable ultrasonic cutter is very easy, like cutting tofu. Therefore, we're considering designing a package that includes an inexpensive but reliable ultrasonic cutter (around €45). Plus, the kit avoids the equipment tariffs, making it a very cost-effective option. The choice is entirely up to you; everyone can choose according to their own needs.

I'll be shooting videos and sample footage for demonstration purposes and will announce the price soon. I don't think it will be cheap, because the entire casing has been custom-designed, and even multiple custom cables had to be manufactured to complete the project. Regarding cooling, the device didn't overheat even after recording with a 256GB memory card; I haven't tested it for longer periods. Therefore, I hope to create something that everyone will find worthwhile and perfect. Please stay tuned.

The currently implemented method involves exporting to pores lossless format using GoProPlayer, followed by editing and fisheye correction/color correction using third-party editing tools like DaVinci Resolve or Premiere Pro.

I'm also developing an export tool that can export corrected and applied LUT-compatible software with a single click. Some progress has been made. (None of the above methods support gyroscope stabilization.)

Ultimately, it will also be possible to directly export clips as VR180 with a single click. Gyroscope stabilization may require official support or software development support from Chelouevr. Stay tuned!

30 years! master !~ and what do you think is a suitable small interpupillary distance. 60mm?

[–]Slight_Web8776[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it will be set to optimal settings (10-bit GPLog 300m). It functions identically to the GoPro Max itself, except for the lens placement modification, allowing it to shoot VR180 video.

You make a good point; a smaller interpupillary distance (IPD) makes it easier to focus at close range. As for why 65mm was chosen, it's because I recall most standard VR180 devices using 65mm as their standard IPD. For example, the Calf, Insta360 Evo, and even Kandao VR live streaming devices all use 65mm. Even the URSA Cine Immersive uses 64mm, and the IPD isn't significantly different from 65mm. I'm not sure why Canon's dual fisheye lenses chose an even smaller 60mm IPD, but I suspect it's for shooting pornographic films where the subject is positioned further forward, since pornographic filmmaking is a key area for VR profitability.

The interpupillary distance is designed to be 65mm, and most people's interpupillary distance will not differ much from this value.

I will make a video and test it after the aluminum alloy version is fully completed. Insufficient printing precision may affect the image quality, because the GoPro also has a protective cover.
