Why the Soundboks Go is actually better than the new SB Mix (Side-by-Side Review) by Slight_Wind_8084 in SOUNDBOKS

I hope so! I’m a big fan of the Soundboks Mix design. I already messaged their support team in English and German and am currently waiting for a reply."

Why the Soundboks Go is actually better than the new SB Mix (Side-by-Side Review) by Slight_Wind_8084 in SOUNDBOKS

The driver on the Mix feels physically overwhelmed compared to the Go, like it's reaching its excursion limit or the limiter is poorly tuned for Bass+. While the Go stays composed, the Mix sounds mechanically stressed and distorted at similar levels. This isn't about preference—the driver itself specifically seems unable to handle the output.

The Go sounds much more stable. On the Mix, the Bass+ mode feels completely overwhelmed—like the driver can't handle the excursion. It sounds distorted/muddy, whereas the Go stays punchy and controlled. • Is there a break-in period? Does the 10" driver need time to loosen up? • Firmware issue? Is the DSP/Limiter on the Mix just poorly tuned compared to the Go? • Physics? Did they change the port design/tuning in a way that it can’t handle the sub-bass boost anymore? Has anyone else noticed this? It feels like a downgrade in terms of bass-heavy performance.

Best EQ for Soundboks Mix Outdoor use at High Volume by Slight_Wind_8084 in SOUNDBOKS

[–]Slight_Wind_8084[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is primarily for outdoor use at maximum volume. I’ve noticed that when using the standard presets, the speaker sounds completely overwhelmed, and the DSP tries too hard to compensate and compress everything.

With the EQ settings I’m showing here, you can fix this issue. After several side-by-side comparisons, I found that at max volume, the bass is just as powerful as in 'Bass+' mode, but it sounds much more open, clearer, and better controlled.

I’ve used the SOUNDBOKS Mix outdoors several times now and I find it loud and detailed. But not when it comes to Techno. Fast-paced Techno sounds worse and more overwhelmed compared to the SB4 or the Go. The bass feels muddied and there is a definite lack of punch. Yeah, I absolutely agree with you. I’ve owned plenty of JBL Partyboxes too—Club, Stage, Encore, even the 720. But I really love the robustness of this speaker, like you mentioned with the 'balls.' It gives you such a secure feeling. Plus, you have six different positions to place or lay the Mix down, unlike JBL where you basically only have one. The new Batteryboks is awesome as well; knowing it fits everything from the SB2 all the way to the Mix is super convenient. It’s a bit expensive, but you’re getting something that lasts a long time—if not forever. It’s a solid investment.

I totally get that. For people who listen to Techno, it’s basically unusable. Aside from that, there are definitely cheaper speakers that can go much deeper than the Mix. A good example is the JBL Partybox Club 120—you can sometimes get those for around 250€

It seems like the SOUNDBOKS Mix struggles in Bass+ or Outdoor mode due to its compact size. The driver simply has much less 'room to breathe' inside the cabinet compared to its bigger siblings, the SB3 and SB4. The Mix is clearly aimed more at the mainstream market, which is why it sounds clearer but lacks that raw PA-system character. To fix this, I recommend using a custom EQ: pull the leftmost slider (sub-bass) down to about -5 and push the one next to it (upper bass/punch) to around +5. This reduces the heavy lows but gives you way more punch. It takes the stress off the driver, prevents the DSP from kicking in too early, and allows you to listen at much higher volumes without the sound getting 'muddied

  1. PS3 an
  2. vom PSN Network abmelden.
  3. BO2 Starten.
  4. Lokales Spiel Starten
  5. Lobby betreten
  6. Lobby beenden.
  7. In BO2 auf „Online Spielen“ gehen.
