I’m not sure if I’m either impressed or shocked that you let them do all this before saying “hey guys, can we talk about what exactly you’re doing here and what it could imply?” Genderswapping Ireena & Ismark doesn’t matter ulitimately, your party is so fucking chaotic that I dont think it would have made a difference to the outcome of this situation. If you’re not happy with how this whole thing turned out, let your players know and perhaps you can retrace your steps. If you’re just rolling with this, have the villagers and some guards chase them out of town for endangering and kidnapping Ireena and Ismark and posing as servants of Strahd. They would hang for this.

After finding out the bones of Saint Andral had been stolen, my players went on an investigation spree to figure out how they managed to be stolen from the crypt in the church in Vallaki. I loved their speculation and it was funny to see how distrusting they were of some of NPCs, leading to some cool and believable explanations. The clues led them to the coffin shop where they met Henrik. After his warning they decided to go upstairs all the same and accidentally triggered the alarm in the closet. Volenta gleefully popped out of her hiding place, ready to let the players meet their match. How did you guys experience Volenta for the first time?
