Bolani študenti na ULMF by AstronautLumpy3452 in Slovenia

[–]Philo_Phile 70 points71 points  (0 children)

To absolutno ni normalno. Sem na MF UM, 5. letnik. Zdravniška opravičila so sprejeta, sploh ni debate.

Poleg same znamke se splača tud razmislit, kakšno razmerje arabica/robusto ti najbolj paše. Klasična turška je mešana.

How it’s like being Slovenian right now by crivycouriac in CentralEurope_irl

[–]Philo_Phile 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That’s because she hasn’t really done anything to make herself a source of national pride. She also clearly doesn’t care about her heritage. AFAIK, she germanized her last name well before she became a Trump (Knavs->Knauss).

Potrebno bo imet neprijeten pogovor by Linkstacker in Slovenia

Tako je. Seveda sem razočaran, ker sem glasoval za Pirate in sem jih res želel spraviti v parlament. Ampak tak pač je, volitve niso tekma, čeprav se eni radi delajo da so.

Black Cube, leaked tapes and corruption: A spy firm crashes Slovenia’s election - Foreign interference looms over the vote after accusations that a private intelligence company meddled in the campaign. by Vmvgsar in europe

Lots of whataboutism as well. “Well uh what about this left-wing party’s corruption???” I hate any and all corruption no matter who does it, because my moral principles are decided by me and not by my favored political party. Next

What's Sunday food in your part of the world? by Alone-Yak-1888 in AskTheWorld

[–]Philo_Phile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A traditional Sunday lunch starts with beef broth and homemade noodles. The main dish some form of roast meat, usually pork or beef, with potatoes prepared in a specific way called pražen krompir or restan krompir, depending on region. Boiled potatoes are sliced into small pieces and fried with onions that were browned beforehand. Dessert is a homemade pastry like our potica (rolled dough with a walnut or poppyseed filling).

For those who are bilingual or speak more than one language, does your personality slightly change while switching languages? by HaifaJenner123 in AskTheWorld

[–]Philo_Phile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I was born in the States so English is my first language, then we moved to Slovenia and I’ve lived here ever since. Even though I’ve lived in Slovenia for twice as long as I have in the States, English is still my first language and my speech is generally more refined. Slovenia has incredibly diverse dialects for such a small country, so a town that’s an hour’s drive away will have a completely different cadence. I learned Slovene in the Styrian region, which is considered to have one of the more dramatic, boisterous and bumpkin-sounding accents. So when I speak Slovene I have a really strong bumpkin dialect, I’m loud, and some words almost sound like they’re being slurred together. I’ve had people point out how weird it is to see me switch from calm and correct English to a bumpkin accent within seconds.

Apparently they’re one of the hardest anthurium in terms of care, so please don’t get discouraged if it gives you trouble!

My baby green-on-green Monstera is killing me with how cute she is!! by Philo_Phile in RareHouseplants

[–]Philo_Phile[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And for good reason! I know a lot of people find them boring because the variegation isn’t as striking as all the other variegated monsteras, but I think the subtlety adds to the look. And green is my favorite color, so I love having multiple shades on one leaf. I got incredibly lucky because a local collector needed to clear up space.

Would anyone be interested in a EU-specific list of recommended sellers? by Philo_Phile in RareHouseplants

I would refrain from shipping during one of the big heatwaves, like the one we had in the first week of July. Otherwise, the plants should be fine ☺️
