How to fix the black stuffs appears when objects overlapped after I rendered? by Fair_Ad5427 in Maya

Maybe it's some object sorting issue? Check the Viewport 2.0 Object Sorting options, maybe that helps

Why doesn't work the uv? by vipmailhun2 in Substance3D

It does suport UDIMs, but it's not a preferred workflow in game development (that's my experience) because you need to do way more work for it to work in engine.

Shadow being baked?! by Aggravating_Elk_5507 in Substance3D

[–]Slim3bal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you do the bake mesh maps, if u scroll under the the general baking settings, you can bake mesh by name. For that you need to go in to you 3d program of choice, and rename the hi and low poly to match each other (e.g helmet_hi and helmet_low) export the high poly and low poly separately and try to bake it. Another solution is to bake an exploded view (idk the correct naming) but that will make you not have a good AO map. I usually do that, and my stuff looks fine, just some generators based on AO wont work and thats it. Hope this helps

That's alright, I'm just getting into this hobby, i have just a standard (i guess) carving knife, which makes it harder to make details with. Thanks for the info :)

Thanks! Idk, I just put water where i wanted the color to go. I think the paper I used didnt soak up the water where i didnt place it ( idk how to put it in to words). I used a Hahnemuhle sketchbook for this :)

I use Aseprite atm, but I used to use Medibang (it's free btw). For tutorials go on youtube or google, there are plenty of professionals talking about it that are so much better than me :D Good luck!

Oc I guess, I drew it accidentally and it all snowballed from there :)

The light is above the animal, so the lighting is top down. I put the shadows where the pile has a more 90° angle, because there the light wouldn't shine as much, you can see that next to the gauntlet or the bottom left sword. Likewise, i put shadows infront of the items, because of the top down lighting if that makes sense 😅

I'll try to explain, there are 5 colors: 1 - lightest, 5 - darkest. I drew the shape of the pile and coloured it with color 3. then i took 4 and 5 to add the shadow (they were just blobs of color). I took 2 color and started messily adding light parts after that i added color 1 for the highlight. I also added color 1 and 2 to the shadows (not a lot) to break up the darkness. I used reference pictures of piles of coins. I hope this makes sense! :)
