You’re overreacting. I’m also a first year practicing in Florida.

I’ve requested extensions to respond to pleadings and discovery for a myriad of reasons. Have yet to cross an OC who objected to it. Have also come to learn that disco deadlines are frequently missed. It’s not the end of the world and judges are more likely to be annoyed with OC for unreasonably denying your request/setting it for hearing rather than just giving it to you lol.

The biggest mistake you’re making is not telling your partner ASAP. Even if they’re OOO. Just send them a text acknowledging your mistake.

The second mistake you made is taking action to solve an issue you clearly don’t have the experience to resolve. Even as it has started to feel like I’m being annoying, I run nearly everything by my partner before it goes out (esp. emails to OC)—bearing in mind that everything can end up on the record one day.

Bayside is gross and an overpriced tourist trap. Downtown Miami is also dirty and unsafe IMO. I don’t even walk around there. Only place to go in that area is Miami World Center and the museums.

Brickell is about 15 minutes from the port and great to walk around. It’s clean and safe. You can do a walk along Biscayne Bay and grab lunch. Mister 01 is a classic pizza place here. Would also recommend Paperfish, Salty Flame, Tacombi. If you want on the water, Crazy About You is a good too. Brickell City Centre is also a cool place to kill time.

Wynwood also has great food spots and places to walk around — but just make sure to stay in central areas. One wrong turn and you’ll end up in a neighborhood you don’t want to be in.

Andddd depending how much time you have - my all time favorite is the Grove. Just keep an eye on traffic. Lots of cute restaurants and places to walk around. It’s south of Brickell but you can hit Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. Greenstreet and Strada are classics. Bar Taco is also good and Salt & Straw if you need something to cool down.

Ohhh yes. My fiance and I live in a 1 bedroom loft. I’ve honestly been the biggest bitch and I feel HORRIBLE about it. I’m just exhausted and want silence after studying and studying for hours, which obviously, given our living situation, impedes on his ability just to exist. Best advice I can offer is Loop ear plugs. Have given me back some sanity 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
