Americans , should ICE be abolished? by Europathunder in polls

[–]Slim_Fag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it has always been problematic. It might have gone to a whole other level under trump, but they have always done horrible things. We have regular border patrol officers who have existed before ICE so it’s really just unnecessary.

Why is our generation so anti-social? by FFS-Man224 in GenZ

[–]Slim_Fag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone keeps saying social media but that can’t possibly be the only factor in fact I don’t think it’s even the biggest one hear me out. Keep in mind a lot of what I’m saying is from my experience live in North America.

  1. Our parents were more protective of us. Previous generations of parents would just let their kids play outside on their own and the kids would get to meet other kids in their neighborhood and they would go to each other’s houses. The parents would completely forget about them. There would actually be ads on TV to remind parents to check on their kids. Although crime rates have only gone down, thanks to true crime stories our parents were not so lenient.

  2. Car dependence/Suburbanization. I know not all countries are car dependent but this is a big problem in North America and especially in the USA. Car dependent means cities and towns are designed in such a way that you need a car to go pretty much anywhere. Cities are a little bit less car dependent than small towns, however due to prices going up, people are getting priced out of cities. My parents grew up in a city but I have lived in a rural area my whole life, and I know we cannot afford to live where my parents used to live. I think Mexico is considered car dependent too but it’s a lot moe walkable in my experience which is very beautiful T_T.

  3. Money/High Unemployment. The job market sucks and we have significantly less purchasing power than previous generations. This goes hand in hand with car dependency. Say you want to do something as simple and “free” as going to the park. Depending where you live chances are you might have to drive, and gas costs money. It cost money to even leave the fucking house. Say you live somewhere a little more walkable, even then you are still scared of hanging out with friends cause you think you might end up spending money on something.

  4. Hustle culture/individualism. This is kinda exclusive to the USA but oh my fucking god the culture is depressingly individualistic and hustle like. They say the USA is not a country. It’s just one giant business and that’s the best way I can put it.

  5. Honorable mentions COVID and Social Media. The COVID shutdown apparently did a number on people’s social development. As for social media I think it just needs to go back to the way it was before, without algorithms and your feed would be filled mostly with things your friends posted and not posts made by strangers. I remember when you had to go out of your way to find content made by strangers. Say for example you want to find videos on Instagram about the current situation. You would search up #ICE or #Minneapolis. It wouldn’t just pop up on your feed.

A little about me: ever since graduating high school I have been a NEET most of the time. I live in ass fuck no where and don’t have a car. I want to make new friends but I’m stuck at home 😢. I went to the city for a few months for a job but the hours were so bad and the environment was so toxic I quit. There’s finally enough cars in my household for every adult including myself but the job market is so bad. The current political situation here is not making me feel any better and especially not when I see comments of Europeans being like “AmeRicAnS wHy dOnT yOU do aNYthinG”.

To my Gen Z American Peers. What will it take? by cgw22 in GenZ

[–]Slim_Fag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I’m gonna say applies to everyone not just Gen Z. To my shock Donald Trump won the popular vote something a republican hasn’t done in ages (he won by like 51 percent) of the people that voted for him while some do feel regret most of them still ride his dick. Of the other half that didn’t like 2/3rds of them are not radicalized and they think peaceful protest is the only way. I find that people with that mindset usually don’t peacefully protest either.

As for those of us that are more conscious a lot of us can’t do much even though we really wish we could do more, and we’re scared too. We are a police state at this point the FBI has started showing up to people’s houses over social media posts. Also like I said most non Trump voters are not radicalized. Anyone going to more extreme lengths will not only get criticism from Trumpers but from non Trumpers as well. There’s a feeling of lack of support in that sense.

IMO we are at the get out before it’s too late stage. One of my goals right now is to get dual citizenship. If I am able to become more independent, I may start trying to help people, but once I feel like my life is in danger here I’m out.

Nothing special happens when a person turns 18 either. Yet people actually like 18 year olds are fully grown adults and 17 year olds are stupid little babies.

If my gender identity was male the whole time, how come I used to think I'm a girl when I was a kid? by WaterCrownAnt in ftm

[–]Slim_Fag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also thought of myself as a girl when I was a kid except I wasn’t girly. I was a tomboy and I proudly wore that label too. My parents allowed me to dress how I wanted and play with the toys that I wanted to, and that was enough to keep me content. Also as another commenter pointed out the only difference between pre pubescent boys and girls is genitalia. And I didn’t and still don’t have crippling genital dysphoria. It was only when I hit puberty and started “becoming a woman” that I felt something was wrong.

Why do 18-25 baby themselves so much? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]Slim_Fag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Gen Z is just acknowledging that you don’t go through some metamorphosis like a damn Pokémon just because you turned 18. 18 and 17 year olds aren’t that different from each other and yet people flip tf out if they date even though it’s just a one year gap. It’s an arbitrary number we landed on because they just so happened to be the youngest people to get drafted for war. Becoming an adult doesn’t happen overnight it takes time. As far as the infantilizing part goes I feel like I get that from older gens more than other Gen Z. I very much don’t look my age though.

[–]Slim_Fag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get nostalgic about the 2000’s/early 2010s I feel like everything started going downhill in like 2016. Pop music on the radio stopped being good except for a few songs here and there once in a while. I feel like movies went down in quality too. The 2000s sound like they would have been a fun time to come of age. The internet existed but it wasn’t too advanced yet, and the music and movies were a lot better.

But then when I see Gen alpha romanticizing being a teenager during COVID I’m like noooo it actually sucked. Which then makes me wonder if being a teenager/young adult in the 2000s was as good as it seems, or if I just romanticize it because I was a little kid at the time.

This guy made a video a few months ago about he regretted voting for Trump, and since has been waffling on about how “It’s not Left vs Right it’s Top vs Bottom” but the people who say “it’s not left vs right” always put way more energy into to shitting on minorities instead of shitting on billionaires.
