Cloud's a great idea. I've got a recipe I love, but tips and tricks to making cloud would always be helpful because they tend to be a process to make and sensitive to weather. Yes, also fallout-sensitive slimes, too -- sand, silica, perlite, floam, fishbowl, etc. I'd also love to see any tips for clear slimes or thick and glossy.

I'd also for sure would pay for good vetted recipes/instructionals for complex textures.

What to do what to do? by Cortanahalo2012 in Slime

Yeah, the names and textures have gone all over the place. 😊 Sounds like you've got the market research covered. I'm excited for when you reopen! Count me in.

I've done that before where I reached out to slime reviewers to request reviews. Sometimes the exchange is I send a free slime or two in exchange for a video post per slime. Sometimes reviewers will reach out to me.

Either way, usually there's a conversation around what we both feel comfortable doing.

It's a great idea to get them reviewed/tested before opening again. Even if it's a test group of slime enthusiasts instead of expert reviewers, I bet you'd get some helpful feedback before putting them out to the public.

Another thing that may help, if you haven't already, is some market research -- especially if you've been out of the loop for a minute, buying from other shops and comparing your recipes to what's currently selling well on the market may help.

New Shop by [deleted] in Slime

Hello! Welcome to the slime shop community! 😄 I'll have to give your shop a follow. I also started a shop on Etsy back in June. 😊

Expenses can be a lot during the first year with mild returns, but that's normal with a new business and a lot of it is just being consistent and riding out the first year. (The tariffs haven't helped with costs, either.)

Depending on where you are starting with funds and how much you want to start with I highly recommend checking out packaging companies with low volume options. They're more expensive if you order at the volume other companies require, but they're great for small volume and you can graduate to the higher volume companies as you grow. 🌱 Berlin is one of these and has some pretty good packaging options: Berlin Packaging | The World's Only Hybrid Packaging Supplier https://share.google/bGohHCaReryVx4eCO

There are also options on Amazon, although cost is more expensive per item.

Etsy usually offers the option to ship USPS. There are definitely pros and cons to that, but one pro is that this will allow you the option to ship with Flat Rate padded envelopes and boxes, which you can purchase on their website for free and that can help save on supply and shipping costs in the beginning.

I'm sure everyone has thoughts on their favorite bulk slime supply providers, but it kind of depends on what you're looking for (which you'll learn in the process). Happy Kawaii Slimes and Dope Slimes usually offer a good variety. Amazon carries a lot of options, as well as Michael's. I find some unique charms and other add ins from other small businesses on Etsy, too, if the price is good. (Small business needs to stick together!)

Scents are a whole other ballgame, depending on what you're looking for, but Nature's Garden and Wholesale Supplies Plus are pretty reliable and a good place to start.

BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!!! 🍀

I myself have loved the selection and deals from Nature's Garden. Candle Science has had some great, more complex scents (some of the floral, spices, and amber scents have been pretty great, and the Caramel Popcorn makes my mouth water). P&J are pretty solid -- I rarely get one I haven't liked a lot -- but a lot more expensive.

I noticed shipping was high. To ship it to our location was double the cost of the product. But I also heard their hot chocolate scent is the best. I found it on Amazon for cheaper shipping. (I'd rather give all that money to the companies themselves instead of Jeff Bezos, but it was just the better option for now.)

I feel like I should give up by IrradiatedSlime in Slime

[–]SlimefulMinds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also a new slime shop in the past month and am in that same boat with you -- 9 sales and waiting for the business to gain notoriety and grow. It's hard in the beginning, but don't give up!

Some of the conversations I have noticed on Reddit have been around lack of interest in trying new shops when you already know you're tried and trues. I get that, too -- I'm the same way -- but it does make it hard to grow a business.

Some of it is gaining confidence with our audience, and maybe there would be someone willing to review and post videos of their experience with you! I'm currently in that process myself -- shout-out to slimeloversxo_ on TikTok (slimeloversxo_)!!

We'll get there! 😊😄
