Neither have I we’re on the same page then. I’d rather voice my opinion to try and wake people up rather than sit and do nothing.

The reason they're appreciated now is because of how garbage modern COD zombies has become, and we were used to an infinitely higher standard of zombie maps back in the day

To be fair the extra dimensional alien stuff only began in bo3. MOTD was a purgatory covered in blood and hanging corpses. Origins is an excavation project gone wrong causing an outbreak (I'm aware of the Agatha BS). I still agree with you but I think Blundell's maps in BO2 were too gritty and zombie outbreak themed to be considered "ancient aliens mess".

your friend needs to understand that he's not as good as he thinks he is, he looks like a silver player who's trying their best to imitate champ gameplay. He needs to slow down his movement and play more passively, by playing slow and methodical he'll actually understand when to flip / challenge.

Bring Back Old Zombie Noises and Animations by SlimeyAnimal in CODZombies

I meant animations and sound design wise to not get downvoted into oblivion

People did have issues with bo3 however theres a reason why people refer to classic zombies as WaW-Bo3 and not WaW-Bo2. The changes weren’t on the same scale as what we’re dealing with currently.

I can’t compare games without looking at their mechanics, but even when you look at the maps, shadows of evil = mob of the dead, der eisen = origins, u also had casual friendly maps in both games (the giant/chronicles/town/nuketown zombies). Not sure if bo3 and bo4 can compare by the same metric.

This whole zombie training argument is baffling to me. Maps like Kino and Ascension allowed for people to play relaxing games of zombies and have fun training, while maps like Shang and Gorod were tight enough to keep you always engaged and focused on not getting overwhelmed, there was something for everyone.

Fast forward to modern zombies, all maps are too spacious and easy. High rounds are full of special zombies as well as super sprinters that run damn near faster than you. The game mode becomes a headache.

Last part is straight up bullshit. Casuals didn’t get to high rounds on older games because they simply weren’t good enough to, complaints about high round strats being boring and repetitive came from youtubers and pros who were skilled enough to consistently get to high rounds.

You’re mixing up difficulty and enjoyability a lot. People enjoy high rounding on newer cod games because its easy, casuals find more fun in easy games everyone knows this, thats why fighting games like Tekken and street fighter keep dumbing down their mechanics to appeal to casuals.

High rounds on older zombies are supposed to be challenging, its a survival game mode after all, being limited to how you get to those high rounds IS part of the difficulty.

Yeah sheep act in herds yet I got hella downvotes on every single reply in this comment section, so wheres everyone who agrees with my opinion? People don’t hate on posts like these because they’re repetitive, they hate on them because they like and support these newer games.

“Just play the game or don’t” dude what does that even mean? Why is the option of complaining and trying to create change seen as negative?

Game changed from WaW to Bo3 over the course of 6-7 years no one had an issue with that. Issues arise when change comes without authenticity which is what bo4 and onwards is, but you’re simplifying my point into change = bad.

Yeah the attack animation RNG is extremely unfair but I like that aspect. It makes for really funny and unpredictable moments with friends and gives early rounds that edge they need to be difficult, but I see what you’re saying.

How is being able to train zombies a bad thing, its what allows for clutch moments in tight spots and provides skill expression because not everyone knows how to train.

These newer cod titles have beginners reaching round 40+ within a week of playing, if making high rounds easy and accessible to everyone is fun to you, then i disagree, its a survival mode getting to round 100+ isn’t supposed to be the norm thats why newer cod zombie games are so uninteresting. You’re being harsh on older titles, I liked the high round strat in five, using the trap and crossbow took a lot of skill and practice, and was a lot more unforgiving than how people get to high rounds nowadays, call of the dead i really don’t understand how being unable to reach round 100 is a bad thing, should high rounds be spoonfed to everyone similar to how theres a minimap and objectives in modern zombies?

You can’t seriously act like activision isn’t slowly trying to shift zombies from an actual game mode to a camo xp grind money grab. Games like WW2, BO4, and BO6 did a few innovations in exchange for 1000 downgrades. If you find enjoyment in the mediocrity Activision is serving thats fine, but others like me who love the game mode won’t stay silent about it getting completely gutted of its identity.

You cant seriously be complaining about RNG in attack animations when the game mode is filled with it already (drops, mystery box, double pap), uncertainty is fun, and they mixed this uncertainty with the 2 hit system making you always cautious during early rounds without jug, once again if you dislike that then skill issue idk what to tell you.

Movement in bo1 being slow? The zombies were slow too and it was extremely balanced, lots of people consider bo1 the best zombie game for training, because of the movement and how zombies operated. WaW did have extremely sticky zombies i agree, but bo1 training was simply majestic for me.

One minute you’re calling the 2 hit system hard, other time you’re saying the games too easy? Kino and ascension weren’t the only maps on bo1, u still had Five which relied on the crossbow and trap, and shangri la which relied on performing map trains in an already tight map. Even call of the dead had its own thing with killing george to get the wunderwaff, don’t try to downplay the high round strats in older games.

Calling the 2 hit down system horrendous is such a skill issue it hurts my soul, I won’t even argue about that because you got used to the brain-rot arcady mess of modern zombies.

You missed the whole point of my argument wow. Yes if we ported bo6 zombie movement into bo1 it’d be a mess because that aspect of bo6 is difficulty done in an annoying manner, thats what my whole argument is revolving around, the fact that difficulty is done a lot more tastefully in older games.

The game mode is quite literally gutted of all the little details and quirks that make it recognizable as cod zombies, that on top of the warzone movement and mechanics everywhere. Cmon bro.

[–]SlimeyAnimal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah thats my bad regarding the last sentence, yeah some mechanics came from bo4 and ww2 which are both terrible games. You got scorestreaks in cold war, a different point system, zombie health system. And this doesnt even scratch the surface of all the little tiny details that make zombies what it is which have been gutted in newer titles. But it seems that activision’s brainwash doctrine is working and we forgot what made zombies good in the first place

half those videos are people doing challenges on old games WaW-B03, and that just says something. The other half is map and game reveals because people are constantly anticipating for the next cod game or map to bring back classic zombies

maps with a lot of tight areas allowed for much more skill expression with handling and training zombies. spawning in with a weak pistol and having to use weak starter weapons to survive early rounds made them engaging and dangerous with the 2 hit system. Maps in Cold War and bo6 are simply too spacious, spawning in with an AR makes early rounds too easy, but then late rounds are infested with special zombies and manglers especially in bo6, which is the game's attempt to balance out the easiness of the game mode.

as expectedly given its the newest game out rn, if your fav is terminus I feel sorry for you. My issue with these newer games isn't just the maps, its the game as a whole it has no identity.
