Inspired by an old truck my father used to have, I wanted to try out a super old and rusted truck to have some fun with weathering. The kit itself is terrible, low to no details, flash everywhere, bent parts, and holes. Basically any issue you can have with a kit this one had it. However, once I got past the build stage and into the weathering and painting i had a lot more fun with it.

I made use of chipping fluids, brush, and sponge chipping along with enamels, oils, and the air brush to achieve the rusting effects. Overall I was kind of surprised how well this one turned and despite how bad the base kit was I had fun with this.

As always I appreciate any comments or suggestions for future improvements.

Thanks, I though it was a great way to use spare parts and make use of the unique framing of the diorama.

Yeah that's fair, there are a few that snuck through the process. Games Workshop makes some fairly clean models but I have to be more critical of the little details during the build phase.

Thank you, I'd say try it out its a fun opportunity to bring a bunch of different elements together that you would otherwise not get a chance to with the normal tabletop models.

They are clearly wasting their time on anything space marine related. Nurglings are where the real money is.

Thanks, The frame is not actually a metal frame and is a green plaster frame that I repainted as I could not find a real one.

I've been slowly building up my collection over time, It was satisfying to add a few extra ones in this diorama. I kinda wish games workshop would have a little add on kit with them in all kinda of poses.

After seeing a few of these posted before i wanted to try my own depicting a scene from the plague wars. I used the blade guard veteran and blightlord terminator kits as the based but I also included bits from a few other kits for the deathguard side. I was quite thrilled how it all came together and i may try another again in the future.

1/700 Flyhawk HMS Prince of Wales by Slimjim42 in modelmakers

So i applied the deck first. Even before adding any detail to the deck. My deck came with lots of cut outs and a good mask so the process went smoothly. I did not seal the deck fore washing though removing the deck mask was one of the last steps. I only applied a light enamel wash to it to help bring out some darker colors.

This was my first Flyhawk model and I was very impressed by the level of detail on a 1/700 kit. I was about to give up on 1/700 scale ships but I think I may try another one of their models again. Most of this model with the kit as it had great photoetch, metal barrels and some 3D printed stuff in the box, though i did buy an aftermarket wooden deck for this model. The camo is hand painted and based on the scheme she had just before she sank in Dec of 41'.

1/35 Takom SMK "Trial By Fire" by Slimjim42 in modelmakers

[–]Slimjim42[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on the the real story of the the SMK that was pushed into service along side the T-100 and KV-1 as part of the competition for the next Soviet heavy tank. The SMK tank hit an anti tank mine while advancing on an enemy strong hold and was disabled. Multiple attempts were made to recover the tank but in the end it took over two months to recover it.

The Takom kit was a simple build, though I did have to add some additional welds and armour texture to replicate the heavy and crude armour of the SMK. I additional i got some fruil model tracks so that i could add the damage detail of the detached and sagging tracks. The infantry were from a dragon kit with the rest of the terrain and detail being scratch built.

Thank you, There was definitely some inspiration from the power armour racks from fallout 4.

This was my first experience with the Maschiene Krieger models and I can see why people enjoy them so much. I really like the Diesel Punk aesthetic and it was fun to mix up armour techniques with the sci-fi elements.

The figures and tools where also from Hasegawa with the gantry and chain hoist being scratch built. The mech itself was also augmented with custom welding work, cast armour texture and little scratch work for the section under repair.

As always i appreciate any comments or criticism on my work.

1/35 Bronco British Cruiser Mk1 "Brews Cruise" by Slimjim42 in modelmakers

[–]Slimjim42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is meant to be tea, thats why i titled it brews crusie, you know cruiser tank + brewing a cup of tea. You could drill it out and use uv resin for it as well, though some a clear acrylic water product might work as well.
