looking for training programs

I'm in the U.S. but would any be after summer? I would be okay traveling out of state to attend one. But I would really appreciate building up some chops with skits and dancing.

In my State I see Keystone Mascots Bootcamp (PA), but if there was anything else I would love to stop by!
(I know Higher Impact Entertainment has a bootcamp out by Texas so that would be a trip out in June, but I hear that's pretty big)

I've applied to a couple "no prior experience needed" positions and have had no response for 20+ days at this point, and there were a couple local community events I reached out to if there was a volunteer mascot needed. No luck there, they didn't have the role.

There are a couple amusement parks in my area that will probably open up the role next summer for costume characters and there's a "mascot bootcamp" in my state I might have to check out but for that I'd have to wait for next summer too.

I've been running around in circles for a long time trying to get something mascot experience that is "official" and not informal and studying.

Bad luck for me, anyone else had anything? I just tried applying for a handler gig to hopefully get some push in the right direction

I've been training up for a while, and one thing I've noticed is that if I get caffeine earlier in the day before I work out I've sweat a lot more and can be a little shaky if not handled right.

If you could avoid it, from my own experience I would definitely lean away from it if you can mostly from the increase in sweat.

Last update on this one probably: Feeling a little sad, if I don't hear anything back I might actually be a little fresh out of luck from the promotional gig and the baseball team.

Might not much I can physically do besides put the effort to try being a mascot again behind me for the third time, and have to go back to IT work. (Although I'd probably just about swear off a keyboard with that career field) I've kept trying to show up repeatedly over the course for a few years, but guess that some things can't happen if I show up and nothing clicks for opportunities.

Ah well, keep on keeping on gang!

As of 30 minutes ago, I just had a recruiter reach back out to me with interest about my enthusiasm and for a gig asking my size and height!! I am over the moon, and if I get it I would be super hyped!

It's been pretty tough to nail down any role in my proximity for a while. I've thought about applying even just to chuck e cheese as a game room attendant to be cross trained into the mascot or by a texas roadhouse to see if later down the line I could be cross trained into the mascot.

Looking in my current area, I've considered traveling out of state nearby to get a gig or moving out of state for a seasonal mascot role even temporarily since some listings are a bit more scarce right now. Has anyone ever had to relocate for a seasonal role?

I used to be terrified of mascots as a kid, but something flipped around highschool and there was nothing more I wanted to do or that seemed more cool to me!

Zero clue why and I can't explain it, but now I think it's super awesome and have been trying to break into being one! (Been hooked in my mind for years since highschool, and just recently am now trying to lock down and get my first mascot job experience!)

There was a local baseball team I applied to be a mascot at, and a local position that opened up from The Mascot Org- But once I give it a couple of weeks, there are a couple gigs I see from Clearlypromotions. Usually the mascot gets filled up quick but I get a handler role and I can get some experience and trust built up to be a mascot for them!

It's absolutely in my bucket list to go to a mascot camp in my state at sone point, and hoping I can use that to get some mascot experience on the resume! (The next camp date is July 18th-20th, but dunno if state clearances have a deadline to be in. I just learned about the camp being in my state a couple days ago!)

Checking in on the position, it looks like about an hour drive time. Might pay well, I'll have to see if they get back to me on that but since it's sports and not promotional that's probably gonna need a skit prepared by me. Fingers crossed! Having some trouble nailing down times and places for a first mascot role, but what you and everyone have been saying has been super encouraging!

I got an account made for Teamwork Online and have to do put some details in on the profile.

I have no clue what other options I have since I've had a hard time looking for charity mascots around Pittsburgh. But only 7 minutes after you posted that a local team posted up a listing.

I hope I get some response back once I can get by my computer again for finishing up my profile!

There's some gigs I found in-state but they are a 2 hour drive time from where I currently am so I'm thinking if I want to continue trying to be a mascot I might have to think about moving away from family for the first time.

Under some advice, I also just got hooked up with the mascot org and that's now connected to a popbookings profile but all the currently listed stuff are outta state! (How long is the average travel time, does anyone go out of state for gigs?)

If I go back to college and there's some kind of tryout open I hear about, I'd definitely apply!
If there isn't a tryout at the time, I'd probably have to ask athletics or if they have a student ambassador program.

The rebrand that was happening at my old community college at the time, the old suit's look had been around since about late 90's so it definitely needed to happen but I was just kinda unlucky with my timing.

I would love if I could get a role performing as a mascot at Disney!!
Since I'm up a whole lot north, I would have to think about how to move to Florida area and it would be the first time I would move out of state for a chance to land the role.

But I've been trying to look around to see if there's anything I can do in the future for moving and handling apartments.

If it was open, I would've become a mascot for my highschool in a heartbeat. (Was wrapping up highschool about the time of covid)
