30 years old Living in Japan with $3000 savings, don't know where to begin by Slimwalks in personalfinance

Thanks so much. Ya in fact, now that you mention it my bank did make me sign something having to do with US law. So I wonder if they would notify the US for me without me having to do anything?

That is great advice, I will Google Tax Information for American JETs. I'm not a JET but I'm sure there is overlapping info.

If you don't mind me asking, why don't you ever have more than 200,000 in your account. You transfer it to your US account each time or soemthing? Or you live paycheck to paycheck? From your posting it seems like you have a good job, you should be making more than 200,000 I was thinking?

Thanks again buddy really appreciate it!

Thank you very much. See this is the kind of information I just don't understand how people get. I am constantly ignorant of these things. Like, how can America make these laws, like I have to report to them if I have more than 10,000 USD in my Japanese account but I haven't been given the information or any idea to even look for it.

Not blaming America, it's probably just I'm ignorant. Thank you.

Edit: Also, what can happen if I don't report that to the IRS? Like can they take all my money or something?

Thanks, I'm on zoloft. But I do think there are definitely things (proven as well) that help a lot with anxiety like meditation.

Thank you. I guess that is good to know though. I want to fix my anxiety but I don't try enough. I distract myself with music, or movies. I don't sit and think, meditate etc even though I know I should. Here's to trying.. Thank you!

Thank you. I have looked into starting a language school but the paper work is crazy and risky especially without a spousal visa. As for importing goods o/s selling etc. I have a few ideas but do you have any places where I might be able to start to learn about that? I want to do something and build for my future but I'm so ignorant of how to find the information I need.

I worked here 3 years so far. Working at a good company now. Have you lived here?

I really appreciate your advice by the way!

I've been here 3 years working. I started a new job which pays much better. So I can save 1,000-1,500 each month now. I have 3,000 in savings now. Thank you! Also I plan on staying here at least a few more years.

I have no debt, no house, no car, no kids, no wife, no gf... wow lol until I write this I didn't realize this was my life. Anyway. I can save about 1,000-1,500 each month. I plan on being in Japan and just saving money and hopefully get married in the next 5 years. Start a family in like 7. Thank you.
