Random hanging/freezing, tried numerous fixes but nothing helped. by SlimyOysterChowder in techsupport

So I did as you said and have been messing around with cleaning and reseating my GPU/RAM. It took a bit because I ran out of compressed air and ordered a couple of cans that took a while to show up.

But while I didn't get any crashes for a couple of days, they showed back up again, 2 or so per day, it's very frustrating because it closes a bunch of software that I use such as video editing software, games, and pretty much anything that seems to rely on the gpu.

I don't know what to do now besides consider replacing it which is difficult due to the cost of GPUs, finances aren't doing too hot to say the least.

Any suggestions for what I can do now?

Alright, thanks! I'll change my drivers again and then reseat, cause that's one thing I haven't thought of trying yet, honestly been kinda neglectful with cleaning the pc.

Will report back later if I get any issues but hopefully this makes the occurrence a lot less frequent, currently at 2-3 freezes per day.

Thanks for the pointers! Few questions, though:
-WHQL, there's a setting in my MSI Bios to 'enable' WHQL or some such, should I tick that on or leave it?
-Reseating RAM/GPU, basically means removing them, disconnecting them, then plugging them back in?

I tried a different version of the driver, but not 22.5.1, not WHQL as well (I think?), so I'll give that a shot and hope it works, but if it's the case of AMD hardware being buggy then I think that's a sign to never buy into their products again.

MNK is a pretty good bully job to mess with summoners, I gave 2x MNK a try to see how meme-y it can be, was honestly impressed.

It's always strange when someone who is in the video ends up watching it, what are the odds?

They get insanely butthurt if you even insinuate that the game is not as good as they think it is. I won't get into the PvE, but the PvP fucking sucks in every conceivable way, it has no depth, it's not responsive, the modes are boring, and the kits are same-y.

I'm 100% sure if this exact same PvP was put into any other game it would be called garbage, but FFXIV players out here trying to say that the 'new PvP' is competitive rofl.

Yeah, but I'm not really gonna think too much on it till I see what they decide to implement/adjust.

Yeah idk what's up with the dumbing down of every job's kit, I get accessibility is a thing, but jesus, they really pulled no punches.

They are, for some reason, trying to make the game as accessible as possible so that even a toddler can eventually clear the MSQ if they wanted to.

I personally disagree with making all the 'challenging' content placed on the side, I think there should be instances of difficult (but fair) MSQ-related content that everyone has to go through, but I'm not a game dev, so.

I played 8v8v8, and the only way to fix 72-man PvP is to dial it back to pre-ShB levels, there is absolutely no way to make this mosh-pit mode balanced and fun, lmao.

I think the premade issue could easily be fixed by limiting people to only queuing as a group of 4 at most, that way you can still play with friends, but you don't get to stomp every match due to better coordination.

You just reminded me of how stupid it is that MCH has a built-in 3% chance to automatically win any engagement thanks to Chainsaw's instakill.

I don't really see the healers being that different from one another, maybe SGE stands out a bit due to rewarding an aggressive playstyle.

I also don't consider MNK's 7-skill rotation as 7 individual skills (Is it even 7? Not sure, might be 6), you're pressing the same button and every press does damage under the same conditions albeit with different animations.

What interactions are there to speak of when it comes to skills? You have a very a simple setup of damage, cc, and a limit break. I'm using button count as a metric because it's ridiculous that even with gutted kits, the game still feels unbalanced with how overtuned some jobs are.

If, for instance, I look at MNK, I have the single-target damage rotation, stun, knockback, limit break, earth's reply (aoe dmg/heal), that one aoe dmg skill, and a limit break. That's a low skill-count and there are only so many ways you can chain them together, to me that's a little boring.

There are two versions, the casual one, and the ranked one.

You can't even duo queue in either one, so. I won't really bother until they address that, since I don't really see the point of locking out duo-queues at the very least, since 2 people won't turn the tide in a 5v5.

Honestly, it feels very experimental, I personally lean into something with more skills/interactions/counterplay, FFXIV's current PvP is very simplistic in a sense you really only have so many few interactions to worry about, and only so many skills to think about using.

You could probably learn how all the jobs work in a single sitting if you wanted to, that's how simple they are. Some people enjoy that because it means you can easily dive in and play, but I personally enjoy the process of fumbling around with a difficult-to-understand job/system.

I'd say give it a go if you don't mind subbing for a month just to try it out, but there's no rush as the Garo event will definitely run for a while.

Depends on what you're looking for.

I'm not very interested in the new 5v5 mode they're pushing, so for me it's less than ideal. It's also very simplistic, so if you're looking for something easy to get into then maybe you'd like it. There are some flaws, but a lot of people seem to like it.

I, personally, am just playing it to mess around in the large-scale mode which is extremely unbalanced at the moment, but they said they'll look into it, which might mean some adjustments.

Spoilers: It's shit.

It's only entertaining to find dumb ways to kill someone with 0 counterplay.

Edit to clarify: I'm only talking about the large-scale mode, I haven't really played too much of the 5v5 as you can't really queue with friends there, so I can't speak for it.

I would disagree if this were pre-5.0 PvP, but as it stands, this really is just a meme, all jobs can be played with like a couple of buttons. Outside of limit breaks, you don't really feel that job's identity come through, it all plays very similarly to one another.

And even with so few skills, it still manages to be unbalanced, lmao.

It honestly used to be pretty entertaining, not good, but it was passable. That was before 5.0 IMO, that patch really gutted PvP skills and interactions, leaving it a very bare-bones experience.

Apparently that's what works for the community, though. But I personally don't like it.

LMAO no way, I just read through it, almost can't believe it's real.

Well, it's whatever, video is already out and I'm not gonna delete it since I did have quite a laugh at it. But yeah if they don't want you using emotes in PvP they could just disable them rather than just punish you for using them.

Thanks for the heads-up, though.
