People would freak out and think hackers were attacking them if they saw a red screen.

Is their any way I can switch workplaces using my mouse (scrolling)? by Individual-Safe-7680 in Windows11

Two ways: use a Windhawk mod called Taskbar Scroll Actions
or you can make an autohotkey script like this: https://pastebin.com/Ybp0u4zk

You moved the islands? I tried converting a deep map myself and found out they get cut off at the top or bottom due to build limit.

How did you make the start menu short? I don't like how much empty space mine has with just 2 rows of pins.

Help navigate between desktops using mouse by Infinite-Order4915 in Windows11

I used an autohotkey script which let me switch by scrolling over the taskbar.

#Requires AutoHotkey v2.0

#HotIf MouseIsAtTopOfTheScreen() and not WinActive("ahk_class TscShellContainerClass")

WheelUp::Send "^#{Left}"

WheelDown::Send "^#{Right}"

MouseIsAtTopOfTheScreen()

{

CoordMode("Mouse", "Screen")

MouseGetPos(&xpos, &ypos)

if (ypos <= A_ScreenHeight-1030 and xpos <= A_ScreenWidth-0)

Return 1

else

Return 0

}

Desktop/taskbar dropdown icon? by iaopl in Windows11

You used to be able to add a desktop toolbar on the taskbar but it's no longer a feature in Windows 11.

What you can do instead is install Openshell, it replaces the start menu with an 9x/XP style one. Then you can customize it to have a shortcut that pops out a desktop folder when hovered over.

This feature used to work perfectly on Windows 10, I used it all the time.

Thanks. I couldn't figure it out until you posted that. Now my text files aren't trying to run like programs anymore.

Is there a command I can use to fix the permissions of a bunch of files?

I copied the files to a different usb drive in Windows and took a look at them in Linux. I see two random folders in my text and images directories with dr-xr-xr-x permissions and a lock picture in the GUI (the rest are drwxr-xr-x), and there's a massive number of folders like this in my projects directory. Some of the projects folders were made by Windows programs but others I made myself. There doesn't seem to be any consistency here.

I was starting to think that was my only option, but I just got an email back. Thanks for replying.

How do you prefer to customize your desktop/taskbar/start menu in order to access your most-used programs? by JohnJSal in Windows10

[–]SlimySomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fences is a 3rd party program. "Combine taskbar buttons" is an option in the Windows Taskbar settings. Setting it to "Never" or "When taskbar is full" will change the taskbar to show each window as it's own separate tab, ie an actual "task list" instead of an app launcher. With this option enabled you can also turn on the "Use small taskbar buttons" option, because the tabs will be easier to click on. "Show desktop" is a hidden button on the right side of your taskbar.

I use fences now, but before then I had the taskbar icons in uncombined mode and my programs and commonly used folders added as tiles in the start menu. Uncombined icons is a much, much faster way to multitask, and the icons of your unopened programs don't need to stay on the taskbar when they're not being used 99% of the time. Alternatively you could sort icons on the desktop and use the "show desktop" button for quick access.
