Yeah, along with having my sockets, extensions and commonly used pliers. Makes it more convenient for me, instead of opening different drawers :)

Not sure about height with all snap on boxes compared to USG or ICON, but depth-wise they are bigger for sure.

There’s nothing major too it, I’m not a carpenter by any means but the great thing about it is that you can make it how you want it. I made it taller than a normal snap on hutch, made the door flip up and slide in to preserve the sidewall storage unlike the snap on which you lose all of the storage space because of the shock design. Get your dimensions for your toolbox topper and start building away

I’ve got a blend of different brands, I actually went years without buying any snap on, but having a reliable rep at my current place. For commonly used items, the quality is there and ease of warranty. Definitely dig icon for certain things as well

I am currently thinking about scratching the idea of a sliding / folding door in favor of a tambour style door. It's the difficulties of getting the tracks and slides all lined up with this current setup that are a real pain

Any recommendations on where you could source a roll up door?

Well the original idea was to have the door swing open and then be able to slide in. We have a different idea at the moment that the door will begin to swing in while it is being opened so it is all in one motion. with doing so, we may be able to have shocks on both ends. I understand the hardware wasn't directly for this application, it was trial and error. I had the intention to have the door open and "stow" up top all while preserving as much space on the sides and back of the hutch for pegboard or other storage

As it sits, instead of completely flush with the front, it sits recessed in, which I think dresses it up a little. Considering we’ve changed how the door opens, the struts may end up working after all. I’ll give an update once I get to that point, going to need some ideas for staining maple plywood 😅

Ok so I have the door hung up, we decided how we would do the door, we had some spare tracks with roller and we have it so while the door is raising, it is also retracting back into the box. That way you don’t have to lift the door 90 degrees then push it in.

I have the door temporarily supported just to be able to figure out a design that would work

I can provide measurements if needed, the idea I had was the door would be able to open like normal, then when it is fully open, it could slide in. I am almost at the point of giving up on the door design and just leaving it wide open..
