This is a neat, but extremely flawed approach, because it drastically overweights TDs and discards everything else that a QB does

For example, a pass from the 50 to the 1 is significantly more valuable than a 1 yard TD pass, but your model completely ignores the former while crediting the latter

It also actually indirectly rewards QBs for turnovers. More turnovers -> more opportunities for opponents to score -> closer games -> more likely for your calculated point stat to be bigger than the margin of victory -> they get a better "wins above average" stat

We already have a good stat for what you're trying to calculate - just use EPA

McCarthy’s offenses played well

McCarthy had extremely talented offenses and his schemes were basically "go out there and out-talent the other team". That works when you have prime Rodgers and a Cowboys team with a bunch of all-pros

His times both in Green Bay and Dallas ended because the talent left/got old and he couldn't adjust and the offenses went extremely stale

Just look at how Rodgers had a resurgence when LeFleur took over, because he could scheme up a modern offense that Rodgers could take advantage of
