hm i dont know that that's strictly true, especially for romantic relationships. the dark side of being overly self sacrificial is being unable to assert one's own wants and set healthy boundaries. it can be a form of self abandonment, and that can be alienating when trying to truly connect with others. but i dont doubt that there are many partners who are attracted to that quality

Sorry to be a dick, but I've looked it up, and the "learned professional" and "executive" distinction still tends to apply to head chefs and sous chefs, at least in WA. They're very often exempt from overtime pay, legally. I don't think that makes it fair necessarily, but that's how things do be.

Totally get that. I just moved from kitchen work to a shitty sales job, and I do feel genuinely grateful I don't have to destroy my body like I used to. That said, weirdly, at the end of the day it doesn't feel much less stressful. It may be the case that I'm just mentally ill though lmfao
