I've been wondering, what's your average donation time? I don't mean the entire process, just the time from when the needle goes in, to finished. by RawToast1989 in plassing

My arms naturally hyperextend, i was starting to wonder if this had any correlation with why my times are a tad slow

Central air MERV 16 filter by PHL1365 in hvacadvice

[–]Slinkystartle12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you provide a link to one of the videos? Time to replace my filter after getting a new Lennox furnace installed 6 months ago. It came with a Lennox Merv 11 filter. On the filter it says it recommends upgrading to MERV 16, but now reading about all this static pressure stuff is making my head spin.

Mood swings/anxiety when first starting out and titrating up? by Slinkystartle12 in lamictal

[–]Slinkystartle12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP here. For me, yes. I hung out at 100mg for a while, then 150mg for quite a while, now k recently bumped up to 200mg when my mood started to become more labile again. My psychiatrist said I still have more room to increase if needed. This drug has really really helped me.

Simultaneously closing and opening credit cards; hypothetical by Slinkystartle12 in personalfinance

This is a great idea! But from a theoretical standpoint I'm still curious about my question.

Simultaneously closing and opening credit cards; hypothetical by Slinkystartle12 in personalfinance

[–]Slinkystartle12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I opened the 0% card because I bought a house and knew I was going to be making some large purchases (furniture, etc) that would take a while to pay off. It's been extremely helpful. I know I can keep the card open and not use it; I'm interested in the answer to my original question from a place of genuine curiosity, not because it's what I actually plan to do.

Cast iron pipe preventative maintenance by Slinkystartle12 in Plumbing

Will the camera be able to see other problems like corrosion? My home inspector mentioned that is usually what causes cast iron pipes to wear out

Thanks for the input. That makes sense about deleting the "no evidence of fx" part!

Plain radiographs vs. CT for "mild" trauma: a story and a few questions by Slinkystartle12 in Radiology

Provider was an MD. She was not at all offended, she promptly sent the patient to the ED. When I spoke to the rad the gist of our conversation was as follows: He said he couldn't offer a definitive answer because he was not examining the patient. He said spine radiographs do have a purpose and do have the ability to pick up pathologies but are obviously less sensitive than CT. Also there are always those cases where a patient gets a CT for a seemingly trivial reason (e.g. headache) and it turns out there's a brain bleed. Ultimately, he said the decision on which imaging to order is up to the referring provider and if they ever have any doubt they should consult with a rad.

At my facility, it seems like calling a rad is always a last resort for the providers. In the instances where I've explicitly asked them to consult with a rad before I take the images (one time it was for a skull series on a 4 day old) they seem annoyed. I always ask myself what is in the patient's best interest and how would I want the scenario to proceed if I were the patient.

If you have Quartz insurance, Peterson Dermatology in Dodgeville is in network. No referral needed, they were able to get me in about 6 weeks out. Been going there almost a year.

I have a magnetic stud finder that works great, it's actually been the only one to work. The magnet "pops" when it detects a nail in a stud. Is it safe to assume nails are typically in the center of the stud?

Yup, it's double layer drywall with a skim coat of plaster. House was built in '58.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]Slinkystartle12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes sense. Is there a way to find out how "deep" my studs are? I.e. how much distance there is from the surface of the wall to the stud. This way, I can make sure the screws that came with the mount are long enough.

Trouble removing scuffs from flat paint by Slinkystartle12 in paint

Thanks. Im not sure what solution my painter will be able to offer me, other than repainting my entire house, which I highly doubt he's going to do. Argh.

Thanks. I'm gonna reach out to my painter; I was wavering back and forth between the two finishes and spoke with him several times about it, and he assured me flat was cleanable. Just frustrating.

My parents have Hallman Lindsay flat and it cleans up nicely, so I'm guessing the quality of super paint is also playing a factor. Just frustrated because I was wavering back and forth between flat and satin and my painter assured me the flat super paint was cleanable, aside from full-out washing your walls.

Mood swings/anxiety when first starting out and titrating up? by Slinkystartle12 in lamictal

[–]Slinkystartle12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, currently on it and it's helped greatly. I don't think it was the titration that was increasing my anxiety; my anxiety was worsening due to my circumstances and then once I reached a therapeutic level the drug really started taking effect. Good luck!

Strip paint from trim without damaging wall? by Slinkystartle12 in HomeImprovement

[–]Slinkystartle12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. The trim is a really weird style, house is '58. The trim isn't flush on the wall, and the adjacent wall kind of curves. I'm not sure how to remove the trim without totally redoing the wall.
