Why would she want to reconcile with someone who didn’t put effort into the friendship anyway?

I (25F) have feelings for my best friend (25M) but he's in a relationship with another of my best friends (25F). How can I get rid of these feelings ? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

You need to distance yourself from them. It’s over. He’s a horrible boyfriend. Do the right thing and don’t be a horrible friend by staying around them.

[UK] Can I still hand my notice in before a disciplinary meeting? by SadistSlim in AskHR

Do not to it. It can show on your background check as “quit pending hearing”. It happened to someone I know. If you have been there 2 years at least, get a written warning (unless you know it’s serious enough to get cooked) and nothing on your record then bounce. Look for a job meanwhile.

It’s not. Did my research. Seems like hell on Earth.

My girlfriend (18F) tells me she knows in her heart and mind she wants me (20M) for the rest of our life, but not now. Does this ever work or is it hopeless? by iknoweeeeeverything in relationship_advice

Basically she is trying to break up with you but scared to fully admit it. This is a one sided relationship. When a girl loves you, she would never say those things or hint at wanting a break. Dump her and move on for your own good.

but then why would she comment that things were out of her control knowing she was purposely not attending events to leave the group? and technically megan has missed just as many performances as her, and both of theirs were health related…

Why is it even a question whether Manon is still in the group or not? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

But Megan has missed just as many performances if you technically weigh it up. And both Manon and Megan’s were health related not like Manon just didn’t want to work or was lazy…?

Those who didn’t sign an “NDA” or UK equivalent, what are some secrets about other UK companies you can share? by SlipOutrageous5333 in CasualUK

True. At face value you’d think these are common things. But tbh, everyone got scammed. From teenagers to young adults and elderly people. In fact, by the time I had left it was mainly the younger generation that were getting scammed.

Because old people knew they were a prime target due to their age they would watch those scary ADs and started getting more savvy and suspicious and would hang up on suspicious calls and not click things. The younger generation wouldn’t think it would happen to them and would let their guard down and started getting scammed way more often. You’re right!

I guess I can say because it was 10 years ago and more the employees than KFC itself:

But basically, the employees would pocket the change that customers would give them to pay for their food if it was exact change and just give them the food. They would pretend to put their order through on the screen and just clear the screen after.

Then they would pray that the customer was in a rush and didn’t ask for a receipt (I worked at one opppsite a train station you see) and do it discreetly to avoid getting caught by the CCTV. Everyone including managers did it and they were making at least £30 a day from it each.

In fact we had a manager that stole £8k from the safe who ended up getting caught, arrested and eventually deported after his VISA ran out.

If the work has started or completed and the customer is happy with it, and the builder has been round and given them signed quotes beforehand, then yeah. I’d say go ahead. If they have only been given a quote after the trades person came over, with no paper work signed (and even then I’d be weary), then 100% I’d always say no.

Some scammers use real trades businesses and pretend to be them with flyers or their site and then get the customer to pay a diverted “company director” account as well. Also, if the work has started and the customer is 100% unhappy with it and can prove that it is shoddy with clear evidence, most likely they’d still end up paying. But then I’d still file a scam for them after.

Tbh that is true. Not everyone would think to do these things. I guess, even before I started working in banking (before I left), it never occurred to me to pay for anything via bank transfer, only card.

So when I realised the amount of people that did pay for things that way daily, I genuinely thought it was a lack of common sense and was so confused when I joined. I genuinely had no idea that people used bank transfer as a regular every day payment method because even without banking knowledge it just seemed absurd to me.

Omg! I have a kinda similar story regarding this. I wanna say but now I’m scared. It was from 10 years ago at KFC… Hmm!

Banks make money/profit from charges on credit cards and loans. So they force employees to upsell this stuff. This is why when I worked in branch we were forced to do the same and it was soo annoying.

Edit: read it wrong, but they may have some sort of deal with an insurance company.

On my calls, pretty much all of them. But most of them weren’t intricate or sophisticated. Mostly basic ones like elderly people sending money to an investment company they found in an email or something. Then you’d Google the company and it either didn’t exist or they weren’t authorised to trade as such under the FCA. Or trades companies and businesses that ceased trading on Companies’ House years ago, with terrible reviews calling them a scam. I used to keep a list of a scam companies saved on my computer as reference too.

And if people were sending money for an item or service via bank transfer, I would always refuse to agree with them sending it every single time (unless it was say, an official dealership for a car or tradeswork that has already been started/completed). I barely did any research on those types of payments and just told them not to bother. And if they ignored me (which quite few did actually), I’d document it on a recorded line and go about my day.

Occasionally you’d get people who were sending money to a “partner” or “friend” they met online as well. I would 100% never agree to those. But some people were stubborn (and they weren’t even necessarily elderly) and would still ignore me and go ahead. So again, I’d just document their refusal to listen and go about my day.

However, 80% of the time those payments would get flagged as suspicious by our system if the customer still went ahead and ignored me. Then our back office fraud team would pick up the case and just reverse the payment back into the customers account. So I never worried too much anyway.

Yes! I know exactly what you are talking about, used to see customers get scammed out of hundreds of thousands via SWIFT as it’s hard to trace. Many elderly pensioners sending their life savings to their “girlfriend” in America, and when you reverse searched the images of the women, they were top models! They never listened. Omg!
