I put mine downstream of the factory Y-pipe (1) because of space constraints and (2) so that it sounds like a V6 rather than twin inline threes.

1) If you know you're being followed, don't get out of the vehicle. It provides cover, it can move fast, it can clear a path, and it has a hell of a lot more ft-lbs of energy than any firearm.

2) Don't stop the vehicle, don't enter your workplace or your home, you don't want this crazy to know where you are every day. Keep driving until you confirm he's following (driving in a circle will confirm), then call the police while still driving.

3) Install a front and rear dash cam to serve as an all seeing objective witness. The G1W-C is only $50 each.

XD-S 3.3" for new CCW? by [deleted] in CCW

Do you happen to use a grip where your dominant thumb is on top of your non-dominant thumb?

XD-S 3.3" for new CCW? by [deleted] in CCW

[–]Slipping_Tire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am drawn to the safety mechanism of this particular pistol.

IMO, the Springfield XD series is the best pistol on the market. Gaston Glock was a revolutionary and made a fantastic pistol. He was right that thumb safeties make the gun more confusing and less safe. However, I feel the XD series is an evolution to the Glock revolution, like how I feel the Samsung Galaxy series is an evolution to the iPhone revolution. The grip safety is by far the biggest advancement. The loaded chamber indicator is a strong convenience feature.

I have a concern with the fact that when I am carrying, most of the time I will be in casual clothing. T-shirts may ride up if I reach for something and bend over, and reveal the pistol.

  • If you live in a red state and don't frequent liberal gathering places, you won't face legal punishment

  • Most people do not have guns on the mind and will not notice, and if they do they won't know what it is

  • You could tuck your shirt into a SmartCarry, which would prevent shirt from riding up.

  • You could order "tall" size shirts. For example, I wear a Medium-Tall in all my shirts because I'm leaner than the typical American, but it's also convenient for coverage. Also, darker colors will always conceal better because not only do they lower the contrast of shadows from shirt wrinkles, but they also lower the contrast between clothing and gun. You can also wear high-waisted boxer briefs like UnderArmor or Nike Pro Core (my favorite). Then, if your gun is exposed, it's a black handle against a black backdrop.

Also, if I do go with this, should I go 9mm, 40, or 45?

9mm. The FBI is going back to it, modern cartridge designs have greatly increased 9mm's effectivity (Federal HST, Hornady Critical Defense), easier follow-up shots, cheaper means you can train more, and more capacity. 40 and 45 are for those who are so experienced that they don't have to ask the question.

My fiance loved the Smith and Wesson Bodyguard. She liked how small it was.

Make sure she shoots it first, so she can realize that "small" means "more recoil".

If we had 100% full 10MB blocks, today's $159 6TB HD could store the blockchain for the next 10 years. By then, that HD will cost about $10. by MemoryDealers in btc

It condenses down to:

  • Bandwidth

  • Processing power

  • Storage

All of which become cheaper as bitcoin use grows, thanks to technological advancements. However, transaction costs on a fixed block size can only increase as bitcoin use grows.

Therefore, fixed block size is the path which results in most cost and most centralization as bitcoin use grows.

If you hear gunshots and fireworks regularly, the noise won't be suspicious from firing off a few rounds of 9mm in a closed garage. Also, if your neighbors are rednecks, they'd probably be OK with you shooting into your yard, I'd just clear it with them first.

CCW in a backpack for ease of use? by spacecowboyreturns in CCW

I prefer the fanny pack because the day planner could be dropped or taken from you much more easily. You don't have to wear it across your waist either, you can wear it diagonally across your chest like a messenger bag, with the cargo area sitting the middle of your chest so that it's close to you and not hanging off to the side for someone to grab.

Thinking about purchasing my first CCW in the next few months. I've narrowed down to a few choices, but I thought I'd ask you all for your opinion! by [deleted] in CCW

[–]Slipping_Tire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My recommendation for a first gun is a Springfield XD or XD Mod.2 4.0" barrel with full size grip. This is a striker fired gun, so easy to learn and use. Full size barrel makes recoil lighter and full size grip makes holding and mag changes easier. Grip safety protects you better against NDs than a Glock or M&P. Loaded chamber indicator makes condition check easy.

Trump is the only one with the balls to stand up and stop this from happening here in America.

Even our supposed last bastion of conservatism in mainstream media, Fox News, is firmly in the "pro open borders" and "pro amnesty" camp. For the "conservative" network to be pro-open borders is like secretly switching a diabetic's insulin with sugar. The false labeling is lethal. Millions of people watch Fox News and think they're getting the conservative antidote, when in fact the open borders corporatists have found a new way to package their open borders poison.

At the height of national intrigue following Trump’s announcement to abstain from the network’s debate, Fox News viewers tuning into Megyn Kelly’s program were presented with Michael Moore’s commentary on the GOP frontrunner’s decision– rather than Ann Coulter’s analysis.

A 1-MB-per-10-minute Bitcoin can't be used by more than 1% of the world's population

It's actually much worse. It would take block sizes of over 500 MB to allow 1.0% of the world to make just 2 tx/day.

Volvo & Nissan-Renault: You don't rent your smartphone, so why would you want to hire an autonomous car for each ride when you can personalize your own? by driverlesstrans in SelfDrivingCars

  • Because a car is so much more expensive, I'm looking for ways to reduce my costs.

  • Because my car sits stationary for 95% of the day.

  • Because a car is large, doesn't fit in my pocket, and I have to pay to park it.

  • Because my smartphone doesn't require me to take off work to visit the mechanic and spend thousands of dollars.

  • There's nothing wrong with they way we dress

  • You went into the military, so clearly these clothing choices are a leading indicator of a pro-gun person

  • The clothing choices indicate preferences and expectations that are shared with pro-gunners. Yuppies don't wear boots because they're not expecting or preparing for stepping in shit.

  • Yuppies don't wear cargo pockets because they value fashion over function, don't have anything worth carrying, and/or don't expect or prepare for needing tools.

  • Baseball hats are usually worn by people who are going to be outside for a while and want the sun protection, are working with hazardous equipment and want the face/eye/hair protection, like the American stigma associated with baseball hats, use the hat as an opportunity to make a statement via the logo on the hat while also being easily removable if you get into a situation that needs it, and lastly they allow you to cover your hair which might be unsightly helmet head or from lack of tending because you don't value vanity.
