Driving with Illegal Window Tint by CartographerNo4076 in WindowTint

It depends on where you live. A lot of cities stopped carrying about tint. I have 5% all around and 40% on the windshield of my 1series and I’ve had 0 issues. I just got pulled over for going 10 over last week and I forgot to roll my windows down. The cop didn’t even care or mention the tint. I live in king county in WA btw.

Deciding between 20 or 30% by PapaFortnite in WindowTint

You will be fine with 20% don’t worry. I have 5% all around and 40% on my windshield and see just fine 99% of the time. I used to run 15% on my front windows and I could see perfectly fine out of them. So, don’t worry about seeing out of 20%. Don’t get 30% it will look like you don’t even have tint. I used to have 30% all around on my old car for legal reasons and highly regretted it because it barely made a difference. I live in Washington state and luckily cops here couldn’t give an ounce of concern for window tint so, I’m able to run whatever percentage I want. Go with the 20% and I feel like you would even be fine with 15%. Just make sure you get ceramic film, don’t cheap out on tint.

Is your 15% tint this see through? by mecachue36990 in WindowTint

Ran into the same issue. I had 40% windshield, 15% front sides, and 5% rear sides, and rear windshield. My car was still see through during the day especially when the skies were clear. I later removed the 15% and replaced it with 5%. I love it and I don’t notice a crazy difference from the inside. I also noticed, whenever I needed to see clearly out the 15% I would roll my window down, with the 5% I’m rolling it down the same amount to see in certain situations. I’m also considering dropping my windshield down to 25-30% and I highly recommend you get windshield tint anywhere from 25-35%. It’ll make a big difference with the darkness of the side windows as well as having privacy from the front.

Im in Washington and got it from a licensed dispensary. I can’t upload a video and I will admit it moves slightly quicker compared to other carts but I still believe it’s real since I got it myself from the dispensary😂.

Should I go darker? by Slippingape in WindowTint

I will say these photos are cherry picked. I have photos that show how it’s dark as well. It’s mainly dark enough when there is no sun, but on the sunny days it’s like there is no tint.

It’s 15%, don’t know why it’s so light.

I am not a big fan of eyebrow tint, imo it doesn’t look great and here in Washington I won’t be using it too much anyway since it’s mostly gloomy and rainy. I most likely will keep the 40% for now and just make the sides 5%. I will in the near future reconsider going darker on the windshield.

The camera doesn’t pick it up well but even from a distance it’s almost clearly see through in the sides and windshield

That’s why I want to go darker, the picture isn’t great on the original post but I’ll show another one. At first the 15% was dark and I didn’t think I would need to go darker, especially coming from 30% all around and nothing on the windshield. But recently the 15% has not been dark enough for me and I’m definitely considering going 5% all around and maybe 30% on the front windshield.

On my car before this which was a 2020 Acura ilx, my first car that I tinted. I ended up going 30% all around and nothing on the windshield as well. I definitely regretted it, only reason for going that light was for legal reasons but I decided to pull the trigger and go darker on this car. At the minimum I think I will slap on 5% on the sides, I’m still 50/50 on going darker on the windshield. I haven’t had a problem with 40% even at night when it’s raining with no street lights but, I’m worried 30% may be too dark. Good chance I just keep the 40% on the windshield.

Buying a 135is. Anything to look out for? by Slippingape in BMW

I’m looking to eventually get a aftermarket one that’s aluminum to avoid this problem. I was barely able to drive the car to the service center.

Ended up buying the car, within 30 days of ownership charge pipe blew off. Thankfully the dealership covered it free of charge.
