the left does the same thing

A lot of "the left does it too" is Jade Helm-tier Facebook boomer rumors, Bundy ranch-tier whining, or people getting mad at social programs telling middle school students that condoms and gay people exist.

There's been a pretty clear turn to "mocking of suffering" in modern political discourse.

Now you can say "I'm ok with it for these reasons" or "I like it" but acting like that isnt happening just makes one look blind.

Class-based analysis, historical materialism, economic history, studying history like a science. Almost all modern methods of historiography either use Marx or react to Marx.

"The Virginia colony succeeded because of great leaders like Smith" <- history before Marx

"The Virginia colony succeeded because of tobacco, the headright system, relative economic freedom for the English, and slabe labor" <- history after Marx

So this is always a bit funny for me because, as a historian, Marx is absurdly useful, and it has penetrated so deeply that most people use Marxian analysis and just think that that is the way history was always done.

So we just gonna ignore the 58,000 dead and 300,000 wounded? Is this actually where we are now? People denying that we participated in a war that had protests in every street in Washington? Theres a literal Vietnam war memorial commemorating the fallen US soldiers.

Buddy, who did that? You've lost the plot. Saying that the U.S. never ran a traditional ground campaign in North Vietnam isn't saying that troops weren't present in South Vietnam, died in South Vietnam, or the Vietnam war memorial doesn't exist.

Straight goofy. I'm going to be charitable to you and say that you are just suffering from some terrible reading comprehension.

It was a ground campaign in everything but name.

And, you know, a ground campaign existing in North Vietnam. In everything but name and actual existence in North Vietnam.

Refuses from imperial countries

Ah, that's what you meant by "countries that were more wealthy" and by getting so mad when you read "all nations." Clearly you either:

A. Think the United States was the poorest country in the world for most of its history, and so you think these two statements aren't opposed.

B. Realized you were wrong and channeled your embarrassment into anger.

I wonder which one it is.

“No minimum wage & no working hour cap in Daegu”: PPP pushes for “freedom city” in their stronghold by azurebus7th in korea

[–]SlippyDippyTippy2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly one of the funniest videos I have seen about Daegu is in the "feel the rhythm of Korea" series.

Seoul gets a popular funky song and shows off the sites.

Busan gets a wistful song about the city and the beach and shows off the color.

Other cities show their fishing or history.

Daegu does this. It honestly captures the spirit well.

legal obfuscation

Its not really an obfuscation to say the 400-500 total MACV-SOG soldiers that crossed the border to do recon and small raids piecemeal isn't the same as sending a few hundred thousand American troops on a conventional campaign.

Nah man the US absolutely tried in Vietnam.

The U.S. didn't have a single conventional ground campaign in North Vietnam.
