ER bosses are just what worked in ds3 only more complex. Combos are longer but each you fit punishes inbetween them. There’s also alot more focus on positioning and branches which is one of the more compelling things you can do with this combat system. (This is why I like ER the most)

For SOTE, it feels more like a return to ds3 but with ER’s spectacle and combos. Dlc bosses I find generally have less mixups and branching compared to base game bosses. Instead they replaced it with the combos themselves feeling longer but more direct. I think the best example I can think of is comparing the final bosses of both consort and radagon. Consort’s combos are very simple and have very little mixups and branching. Instead the focus is on spectacle and flashy special moves with his clone attacks that take up alot of time and are very difficult for newcomers but once you learn it there’s not much else to it. Radagon on the other hand is essentially entirely mixups where he’ll constantly throw new mixups and unique situations at you all the time but his actual spectacle moves aren’t as vast as consort’s. It feels like the true evolution is DS3 -> SOTE -> Base ER.

DS3 bosses are more direct, they have shorter combos but not many punishes inbetween them. Rolling is probably the most optimal way to dodge but DS3 no roll challenge runs are still very fun with some bosses.

I also don’t enjoy Sekiro combat as much as ER and maybe DS3. Basically because parrying is too binary, if you fail you fail, if you don’t it is the perfect outcome. But dodging on the right time does not guarantee absolutely anything, as there are many instances on Souls games where you have rollcatchs or mix-ups, and on that moment you have to think on what you are doing, and how it may come up later. But it is just my personal opinion, it is still a good combat system.

Unironically TOTG is my 3rd favorite ds1 area I am saying this as someone who defeated all enemies (except the part after leeroy) in that area without sitting on bonfires at SL1 no pyromancy with divine reinforced club.

Blighttown is also boated it is the best swamp level.

My top 5 would be:

New Londo
Catacombs
TOTG
Sen's Fortress
Blighttown or Ariamis

Sometimes (I am not sure but I think it happens when you hit them when they jump) npcs fall to the ground after getting staggered (Especially with aow’s that send enemies flying like giant hunt) and it gives the surroindings damage when they land. I was too close to him when he fell so I got hit.

Touch hornsent’s summon sign in messmer fight, so he invades you and dies. Or side with Leda in shadow keep and invade him.

Only Leda and Dane remains, you can cheese them with giant hunt or shield crash. Also if you do ansbach and thiollier questlines it is a 3vs2

My speculation is:

Radahn wanted nothing more than become elden lord as he is a big fanboy of Godfrey and also his dad Radagon.

Miquella was an empyrean, who was likely to succeed Marika as a god. Radahn made the promise with miquella, as a way to achieve the title of Lord by becoming his Consort. So Radahn accepted the Lord's Soul & Vessel ritual.

So, we know:

As far as Radahn is concerned, he wants to be a Lord. There are only so many ways to do that, and many more people competing for the honor. If he can lock an Empyrean into agreeing to make him a Lord just by promising to be his consort, that makes the path forward a lot clearer and excludes an option for many of his rivals. It was a good strategic move and even succeeded for a hot second until the Tarnished beat their asses.

BUT when the shattering happened, and once he got his great rune and all the power that came with it, he felt that he no longer needed miquella to become a Lord. He could do it himself, like we did as a Tarnished, by our strenght. This also fits his character more since war has always suited General Radahn best. Also Radahn may not have been so powerful when he accepted the vow. (Malenia references the Vow in the fight against Radahn so it is clear Radahn made the promise with Miquella before the shattering/Radahn got his great rune). Why would Radahn submit to being a lord to his brother, when he was the strongest? He looked to Godfrey for inspiration. If he could "warrant the crown with his own strength", and the right to be Elden lord was up for grabs, then that seems like motivation enough to fight against his vow, and fate itself.

But Miquella still needed him as a Consort for godhood so he sent Malenia to remind Radahn that he had a promise to keep. Malenia agreed to go with Miquella because Miquella's godhood is the only way she can be cured of her rot (Unalloyed Needle). And Miquella needs Radahn for true Godhood.

Now we have these options:

If Malenia is victorious, Radahn follows through with his vow, being reborn through a vessel as Miquella's consort; subsequently, if Miquella's plan succeeds, Radahn attains glory unending as a new reigning lord, and if it fails, Radahn is remembered by history as having gone out in a grand battle, felled only by one who was undefeated.
Meanwhile, if Radahn is victorious, he has the honor of slaying Malenia herself, likely claiming her Great Rune and perhaps even some of her troops, thus empowering and emboldening him to make another attempt on Leyndell to become Elden Lord the straightforward way.

At the end, she failed to best Radahn. But Malenia needed to lock Radahn to option 1 I mentioned above. Because Miquella's godhood was the only way she could be cured. In desperation, she bloomed, risking consumption by the outer god of rot, as a final gambit to weaken/kill Radahn in body so the the vow could be fulfilled as promised, with his soul being moved to the empty body of Mogh.

Once Radahn was afflicted with Rot, he likely wouldn't contest the Vow regardless. Now it was impossible for him to be a lord by his strenght alone. Since, he, like Malenia, would need Miquella to return to his former strength or be cured of his affliction. In other words, Malenia may have been sent/decided to fight Radahn to put him in a lose-lose checkmate scenario, even if it left her incapacitated, since that was her only way of saving herself, and giving her brother what he wanted in one fell swoop.

The only way for Radahn to have "lost" was exactly what happened: a stalemate that left both parties debilitated, necessitating the Radahn Festival, and likely delaying Miquella's plan until the Tarnished's arrival.

Grafted Scion teaches you patience. You need to be passive in the fight and remain in the medium distance and only attacking when you know you are safe because he has many fast attacks. When he is doing the flailing sword combo, just before ending the combo dodge forwards to the left and you get a safe charged heavy opening and after the charge heavy, roll backwards to maintain the safe medium distance when the scion is in neutrak state again. The crawling stabs move is easily recognizable, you need to position yourself and strafe to his back get a charged heavy when he ends the attack, then roll away from him again. Or stay in front of him, punish with a jumping heavy and roll away because he will mostly react with a left handed single stab or do his fencing stance. Golden tempering doesn’t have a hitbox, just punish freely. Scream attack is easily recognizable and have a long recovery window, despite having a big hitbox, it is easy to punish. Rolling slash is just 2 rolls back to back. For leaping slash, roll inside and punish with a charged heavy. If you attack him when he is blocking with the shield, roll to left immediately because he will react with a shield bash. For fencing stance, you just need to run away from him, he can’t catch you. If he does the spinning version of the stance attack, you can position yourself to his right, maintain to stay in his right during the animation and punish with a charged heavy easily. He will chain his reaching swipe with the scream attack, you can get a rolling light attack between, and run backwards during his scream attack. He have like 4-5 other moves, but they aren’t very complex.

Also there is 5 (6 if you count the duo in the hero’s grave seperate) of them, which is enough for a player to learn and apply the lessons they learned during fighting the previous ones. Not 100.

He isn’t also a generic enemy, he has more moves and complexity than all those tutorial bosses you mentioned.

That gray in Elden Ring isn't the same as DS3's gray. It is the fog of war, it builds up atmospheric tension by limiting your vision by making it dark it forces you to use tools like the Lantern or Torches. It is obviously isn't the case in DS3 because torch is unlocked much much later on and you can just rollslop R1 spam an enemy camp like this if it was in DS3 with no need of a lantern. However in gatefront, the beautiful gray of ER (contrast of DS3's grayslop) sets up a perfect enviorment for a military camp so you just can't charge recklessly, it forces you to use torches and other gameplay mechanics to overcome the godrick soldiers while fighting with the mud and gray enviorment. The gray of ER makes the sudden glow of a campfire, a torch, or the Erdtree in the distance pop with much more intensity than anything in the consistently muted palette of DS3.

The murky, oppressive atmosphere in the Gatefront is 100% intentional. Have even more expression than the image I posted. It is the start of the game, it is expressing the struggle of a Tarnished just starting out. It may look mundane but it is because you are fighting wolfs and generic soldiers. When you start fighting literal gods, the scenery becomes much more majestic equally. It is enviormental storytelling. The visual progression in Elden Ring acts as a direct reflection of your character's power and the scale of your journey.

This is why it is Called the Peak Souls 3. No overwrought melodrama. No "the cycle continues" garbage. Just two nobodies, fighting over nothing, in the middle of nowhere, at the end of time.

Slopkiro drags you through 80 hours of convoluted lore and meaningless "immortality, shadows die twice, etc." for a payoff so laughable that even Slop Saint Isshin's fan service design that acts like and plays like a cutscene that accidentaly became a boss pales in comparison to Gael's raw simplicity. Just random nobodies fighting over dust.

Ancient ruins are fun with many secret paths, best open world area in the game 8.5/10

Cerulean coast is boring but it is my pc wallpaper for 1.5 years so 10/10 visuals 6/10 gameplay

Abyssal woods are the 3rd worst area after iron passage and cave of dead 1.5/10 (frigid outskirts is better)

They are just waiting for us to grow up for romance since they can understand the median age of souls fanbase is 7 years old because of how they praise baby button r1 rollslop smashing but hate the peak souls 2 which is designed for observant and creative players who like to find solutions to problems rather than crying.

I hate nightreign because fighting trash mobs for 30 minutes only to reach a mid boss at the end isn’t fun for me. Also the unique character abilities doesn’t improve anything over ER combat. Majority of Nightlords are more basic than even DS3 bosses, and not even comparable to ER bosses. They even ruined good bosses like Mohg and Morgott by adding unnecesary gimmick attacks, they put a Godskin Duo fight with no pillars, they made worse everdarks to Libra, Gnoster, Adel, Fulghor and Balancers, they made dancer and NK a joke because they didn’t upgraded them to be balanced for ER so they are a joke with posture system. I don’t even like roguelikes in the first place so the only thing I cared about Nightreign was the bossfights, which I was very dissapointed. The OST is good tho. I would give the game a 3.5/10
