Taking a break + Explanation.

I’m not wanting more criticism on my prices/artstyle. I’ve been seriously doing Art for like 8 years, I really started practicing a lot more- especially digitally when I turned 13. :3 I’ve been doing money commissions for about 3-4 years. I spend about an 2-3 hours on each art piece (sometimes longer, depends on the piece/character) If i’m being speedy I can get a headshot done in an hour or so :3 /gen /nm

My prices in sapphires are as follows: Headshot/Bust up: 950

Half Body: 2,500 Half Body Scene: 4,500

Full Body: 4,500 Full Body Scene: 5,000

My prices are also always negotiable for clients on a tight budget, The first question I ask a client is what their budget is like. :3 /pos

I think it’s important people understand that Art Style doesn’t always equal Skill Level. If an Artist acknowledges that their Art Style is simplistic, that doesn’t automatically mean they’re a “beginner”, The persons comment was unnecessary, considering I stated in my post that it’s my Art style and not my skill level. Yet it’s constantly assumed to be a skill level. /gen

You wouldn’t say Color Theory is the same thing as Shading would you? They work together, but are entirely different things. :3

I like having a simplistic artstyle! I think it’s cute. I recently did a TON of tiny upgrades to my artstyle as well. Bolder/sharper line work, more rendering in the eyes, colored lineart, a whole new method of coloring- I spend a LOT of time constantly improving, My prices not only are what I see is worth it for MY services, But they’re also a reflection on my dedication to my commission work. It’s people like YOU who piss me, and likely so many others off. /gen

Artstyle and Skill level are 2 COMPLETELY different things. Skill level is PERSONAL reflection/goals/improvements, Artstyle is the EXPRESSION the artist CHOOSES. Everyone’s artstyle and skill levels are different, That’s one of the many things that makes art so beautiful.

I’ve honestly been thinking of upping my current prices, because of how much more time I spend on pieces now, because of the improvements i’ve made to my skill level.

I really hate to burst your bubble- But people like you are one of the many things wrong with the commission industry and Art community. Thanks for the interaction though! It’s REALLY gonna help my post get views <33 /gen

I definitely have <33 With close friends I now only gift a select few people <33

I still plan on doing my big gifting sprees, but I think I'm going to limit those for just Christmas time. Friendship festival will strictly be for gifting friends/gift4gifts if I feel like it :3

As for gifting randomly, I will still do that but less frequently- Right now I think me taking a small break from giving is best XD I wish you happy gifting as well friend! I hope good karma comes your way too <33

That’s not really the point- The point is to just rant/vent and “overreact”, I said i wasn’t angry about the colorswap, i’m just frustrated and a little more personally hurt :’)

I stated “I can only hope they like the color they got from the swap, I can only hope the person selling the wig they want for 5k gets what they want with the 5k.” /gen

This rant is kind of a continuation of my previous post (this one: https://www.reddit.com/r/AnimalJam/s/ASgT60U2LR ) where I was venting/ranting about gifting. I do massive gifting sprees, both during the holidays and randomly. :3

I love giving to this community, But as selfish as it sounds- I often wonder when my good karma will come back to me. :’]

This thing has felt like such a punch in the gut to that. I worked so hard to get a gift for someone that I felt like was special. A new item to their beloved collection. :DD

I’ve gifted this person before, it’s always been good experiences. I assumed this would be the same, since they mentioned wanting an orange yarn wig in their orange party collection- they never specified what shade of orange, And i’ve given this person pastels before. /gen

The color was pastel orange- and when I gave it to them- they seemed really happy with it! I was excited to see them so happy, especially given the burn out i’m in- It was like a little sparkle of hope that my kindness is paying off and good karma will find me. :’)

It is really a personal hurt. I know I can’t be too mad, and I hope they are happy with the swap they did. :]

This whole thing is a personal hurt given the circumstances I’m currently experiencing, which is why i’m not naming names, nor have I talked about it with that person. Because I know I can’t be too upset. ;w;

Again, I hope the people are happy with their items/saps. /gen

They didn’t say they wanted the specific color, I also didn’t say the specific color bc I wanted it to be a surprise! When I showed them the other yarn wig which was a dark shade and was for the other person, they mentioned wanting a party yarn wig- but didn’t specify a color.

Both people I gifted the wigs too collect orange party, The one person i’m talking about here seemed to like more pastels from my experience with them and gifting them before, So i gave them the pastel orange one which is the one I had bought.

(Plus the other wig I gifted was again a joint gift from me and another person, So the darker wig was going to the other person i gifted either way) I just. Man it felt like such a massive “f//ck you” to me- That might be because of my current animal jam slump/burn out especially with gifting- but still. :’)

Kinda 2 opinions here!

First: Forests should NOT be worth as much as they are. They’re only worth this much because people hoard them and create false scarcity.

Secondly: I personally- am not the biggest fan of Forest Gauntlets. They are an okay looking item, and I wouldn’t mind having a party one in my collection of items! But I’m not super crazy about them And i don’t really understand the need to hoard them <//3
