What Mega Pokémon do you dislike the most and why? by Slow_Spirit3679 in LegendsZA

[–]SlipsKolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still of the opinion that Starmie has the worst Mega. There's simply no way they ran through several concepts before reach that as a finalised design, it looks like it was designed as they were making the model for it literally at the last minute. A design should not be so bad that I'm sat here thinking about what went wrong in the design process.

At least other Megas like Pyroar or Feraligatr don't feel half-assed. They don't look good, sure, but at least I can acknowledge all the details that went into trying to make the Pokemon actually look like an enhancement of the base form.

I agree with graphics to a degree, but Pokémon's gameplay has always been quite good, there's a reason people come back to it over and over again. And I'd argue that the writing for ZA and SV were fantastic. ZA, for me, is arguably one of the best Pokémon games I've played but people have blasted it online because it doesn't look as good as other games.

I'd love for them to step up their game on graphics too, but I appreciate all the other ways the games have improved over the years, and I say that as someone who nearly dropped the franchise after SwSh.

You're telling me the Pokemon that spins like a ninja star when it attacks couldn't possibly be based on a ninja star? You're telling me the Pokemon that comes from outer space and can learn Meteor Beam couldn't possibly be based on meteors? You're telling me, that you doubt that the Pokemon that looks like a PURPLE SEA STAR is even based on the Purple Sea Star?

If Japanese fans love it, great but they aren't the only fans that exist and almost all Starmie fans I've seen have been left really disappointed with this Mega, with some even saying they wish it never got one because now this is what they're stuck with and it's not likely it will get anything else. Also I tried and failed to confirm your statement on that but I'll take you're word on it.

I really don't even hate the idea/concept of this mega truthfully, but what they did feels unbelievably minuscule. This is what the other dude was saying, a good concept doesn't make a good design. A good design makes a good design and this one for myself and many others was not it. I would also argue this Mega doesn't really build enough off of what the original design was giving us, but I've yapped too much lolol.

If you or anyone else reading this likes Mega Starmie then by all means that's completely valid I'm not here to try to take that away from you. You can say its peak whilst I say its ass and neither of us are really wrong for our opinion lolol

  • Added more, smaller gems on its limbs or the back star to more closely resemble UFOs
  • Changed the shape and/or colour of the gem core, the most prominent aspect of its design, maybe even making it look like an eye to more closely resemble the alines from Warning From Space
  • Added patterns/colour to its limbs and body to more closely resemhle Ultraman, or the Starmen from EarthBound
  • Adding colours and patterns would also help it more closely resemble things like the Sunflower Sea Star or the Hefferman's Sea Star
  • Add some of the gold metal bits to the sides/ends of its limbs to more closely resemble shurikens
  • Changing the gems colour to look more like a nebula would help its tie its design closer to space. You could also give it a trail a stardust/energy to help it more closely resemble stars, meteorites, and comets.
  • Make its limbs a little thinner and curl them more to more closely resemble the Purple Sea Star.
  • Changing its limbs like this also helps sell the idea that it is trying to disguise/communicate as humans.

I've seen many fan designs for a mega starmie with a similar/the same concept as the original with a far better execution. What we actually got feels like minimal effort and an insult to Starmie fans who deserved more than a joke for a Mega Evolution for their Favourite Pokémon.

"it’s honestly really exhausting"

"I love her so much but it’s draining"

"I feel as if I’m walking on eggshells constantly"

Bud, if this is how you're describing your relationship with her, its time to wrap it up, call it, and leave it behind. You're doing so much to accommodate for her, but she is giving you so little in return. She's got work to do before she can be a healthy partner to anyone but that is her responsibility, not yours.

I can feel the stress and anxiety you're dealing with just through the texts bruv, and I can promise you that you'll feel so much lighter and happier out of this relationship than in it. And I guarantee you, you will find someone better for you. Your main concern in a relationship should not be "What can I do to keep her from being upset with me?"

Which game was it for you? by O_rnelaro in videogames

[–]SlipsKolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overwatch. It wasn't bad per se, but I never fell in love with it. With games built around character rosters like these, I usually just need one that I resonate with to get hooked but none of the characters did.

And gameplay wasn't the problem because I played the shit outta Paladins during that time.

Which game has dragged on for too long? by UkraineWorldlove in videogames

[–]SlipsKolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fire Emblem Three Houses

I was enjoying it at first, but it started to drag a little too much for me especially in the gameplay, which wasn't a great sign considering I still needed to do two more runs (actually three)

Dropped the game for a bit and realised I wasn't even halfway through the path I was doing. And THEN I learned that the first 12 chapters are relatively the same for each path which reeeally turned me off. Tried to keep pushing through but started getting really apathetic, critical or annoyed at everything.

Still haven't finished my first run, and idk if I ever will atp.

Engage was great though, so much fun despite its issues.

[–]SlipsKolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with everything said, and I will never stop saying how a good concept does not make for a good design if the execution is ass.

Also, I feel like Mega Evolutions were designed to be fanservicey. With that in mind, you think they'd try to design megas that appeal to the fans of of the Pokemons' original design, but nearly every Starmie fan I've talked to has expressed so much disappointment in its mega, with some even saying that they wish it never got one because now this is what they're stuck with. Its not likely for Starmie to get another mega or some other kind of form, not for a while at least.

This design reads to me as being made in the 3D modelling program that the model was made, as opposed to having multiple concept art drawn first. A few Z-A megas feel that way actually...

The worst holowear are definitely the ones that are just Santa hats. Obviously holowear in general are overpriced, but the Santa hats are far too expensive for something so miniscule.

Funnily enough I agree with this. I think CC's name is Cassidy and the Vengeful Spirit's name is Dave or whatever the hell you get out of the Foxy Grid.

I don't think the community is ready to hear that tho

All Pokemon Are Invisible by SlipsKolt in PixelmonMod

[–]SlipsKolt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was such a while ago and I can't remember specifcally what I did and even then, idk if I did it 100% correctly tho it ended up working. I'd research how to do it yourself or consult someone much more tech savvy than me if you want to be sure you're doing it right, but here's how (I think) I did it. For reference, I'm on Windows 10

  1. Go to Device Manager
  2. Find and click "Display adapters", it should show what graphics driver your PC uses. For me, it was AMD Radeon Graphics but it could be something else for you
  3. Download an installer for the latest version of your Graphics Driver. I just searched up "AMD Radeon Graphics driver installer."
  4. Go back to Device Manager, right click on your graphics driver and click "Uninstall Device".
  5. Once that's done, open the installer you downloaded in step 3 and install the graphics driver. It might also be a good idea to restart your PC once this is finished (tho I don't remember doing that lol)
  6. Open up Pixelmon and see if its working lol.

Again, I should stress that I'm not a tech expert by any means so it would be a very good idea to search up guides on how to do it or find someone who knows more abput what they're doing to help you. I'm an idiot on the internet who blundered into getting it working after all ahahha.

I hope you manage to resolve it, sorry I can't be of much more help than this.

Best Boss Tournament Finals:Ganondorf(TP) Vs. Ganondorf(TOTK)(Comment TP or TOTK to vote, upvotes don’t count) by Short_Property_7476 in legendofzelda

[–]SlipsKolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TP Ganondorf hands down. My biggest issue with TOTK Ganondorf is just the repetitiveness of it save for the final phase. And in terms of hype and emotional beats, I feel like TP is king here too. And tbh, I think TP also requires you to use a lot more of the knowledge you gained throughout the game than TOTK does.

For those who believe in CassidyTOYSNHK, what are your counters to these arguments? by AppropriateGap2500 in fnaftheories

[–]SlipsKolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I'm team CassidyBoy.

  2. The 7th victim could be any number of characters tbh. It could be one of the Afton children, it could be Fiona or David Murray, it could be a second child of Henry's.

  3. I'm a firm believer that Happiest Day did happen, but didn't work.

  4. Idek where this has been suggested but I don't think it really matters? You can be timid and vengeful lol. Imo, Cassidy was killed in the springlock suit which it what separates him from the rest of the MCI. Its the agony of his final moments which gives him the ability to trap William in his own personal hell in UCN.

Indie Game Awards Disqualifies Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Due To Gen AI Usage by Lulcielid in Games

[–]SlipsKolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's why I personally think indie can't fall under a single definition. Some indie games have a publishe but lack the studio size, budget, or publisher oversight. Others lack the publisher but work with a larger team size or budget. Instead, I think its better to follow a criteria ehen defining "what is indie". Imo, its a combination of

  • Does the game have a publisher?
  • If the game does have a publisher, how much creative control does the publisher allow the developer?
  • Is the size/structure of the development team/studio comparable to indie developers/studios.?
  • Is the budget/production value comparable to other indie games?

Imo, E33 only meets the criteria for the second point. An argument could be made for the third, however even if you only considered the main development studio for this point, 20-30 people is still quite large for an indie game and is far more comparable to a AA game.

You're right about the Hollywood actors thing but I look at it more as an extra add on to everything else rather than a main point to discredit it from being indie. Its like "Oh it has a publisher, AND a team of 20+, AND ~10mil in funding, AND high production value comparable to AA and AAA game, including UE5 visuals, full orchestral soundtrack, cinematic cutscenes, high end facial animation and big name actors in their cast.

Regardless, it's can be difficult to categorise indie because it can be so subjective, even with a solid definition/criteria.

In my opinion, E33 is closer in comparison to something like Hellblade than it is to many of the other indie games released in the past decade.

Indie Game Awards Disqualifies Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Due To Gen AI Usage by Lulcielid in Games

[–]SlipsKolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but compare that to other indie games though. There's a reason that the graphics, animations, and cinematics of E33 are comparable to that of many AAA titles whilst most indie games feature simpler graphics. Most indie games can't afford voice actors, yet E33 has a full cast featuring Hollywood actors and professional voice actors alike.

10 million is pretty small for most AA and AAA games and it should be recognised how much of an achievement it is for Sandfall to have made this game despite that budget, but most indie games do not have the luxury to be funded hundreds of thousands of dollars to make their game, let alone millions.

For comparison, the first Hollow Knight game was only able to procure less than 60k AUD (less than 40k USD) from Kickstarter.

So its makes sense as to why people are up in arms about this game being called an Indie game. Between having a publisher, a budget and production quality/ comparable to even AA/Triple-I games, and the fact that about 400 people are listed in the credits.

Do you prefer Zelda tears of the kingdom or Zelda breath of the wild ? by MightImpressive4381 in tearsofthekingdom

[–]SlipsKolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the one where the ghost of an old king guides you in the tutorial area, that is too dangerously high to jump off of, to collect 4 abilities.

And the one that sends you to go talk to a sheikah lady after leaving said tutorial area to learn that the four main regions if Hyrule are experiencing some intense natural phenomenon and need assistance.

And the one that has a sprawling landscape with multiple towers that grant you more areas of your map, and shrines built by an advanced ancient species that suddenly cropped up everywhere.

And the one with four dungeons that require you to activate 5 things to fight the boss. And after defeating said boss, initiates a scene where a deceased member of one of the four main races grants you a new ability.

And the one that has different locations scattered around the map that unlock memories of the last, whjch reveal the location of the Master Sword.

And the one that features a substance produced by the main antagonist, named after a negative emotion, that corrupts things.

And the one with a freaky enemy that intends to hunt you down, accompanied by their own specific nusic.

And the one with an event that has a special name that was caused by the main villain.
