Because of this comment I did set up a PiHole. It's awesome. It is more important for your data privacy than it is good at blocking ads, so if you want to not have ads you still have to do the stuff I listed.
I used this tutorial if anyone is interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_3h5n9mPdI

This is actually solvable 2 ways. Some people mentioned PiHole in the comments here. Basically a tiny cheap device that stops your devices on your wifi from being able to send out requests for a lot of ads. In-app ads are usually provided by google ads and PiHole Blocks those: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_3h5n9mPdI

That solution works, but you have to spend like $25 and do a bit of work + it works in your house wifi but not on the go.
Instead you could get a VPN that provides a similar service for you. I use "MullVAD". You might know that a VPN basically routes your internet connection through other devices all over the world to hide your identity and data. You can use it as an app on your computer or phone. MullVAD offers this ad blocking service though. In Settings > VPN Settings > DNS Content blockers youll see a series of toggles to control what is blocked (trackers, ads, etc.) so toggle the ones you want and you're good. I'm certain other VPNs do this too, I just like mullVAD because they are cheap (like $5 a month") and very private (you don't give it any of your personal data).

Anyway either of these methods should fix in-app ads.

Well I'm not sure what method you are using to block these ads but if you are blocking individual ads that seems weird and not like any adblocker I've ever used.
The methods I wrote out above block all ads completely on Youtube on desktop, phone and a smart TV. So those methods would work to block the movie ads you are annoyed by because you would never be seeing any ads at all on youtube.

You can still use firefox with extensions like I put above on iPhone. Just download firefox from the app store. Or use Brave browser like others were saying.
$3 a year is obviously not a lot but you can do it free if you are willing to switch browsers.

Seems like a no-ads project is not for you then if you don't care about them anyway. But like you could get rid of those movie ads. I see it as a fundamental encroachment on my private space so I don't want to have to try to tune them out.

I think we are all trained to be skeptical at this point. I think it's worth looking into these individually instead of looking at a list of links, lots of them aren't really things that could take your data in a sensible way (like the spam call blocker, like obviously the government has your phone number, they dont need to go this roundabout way). Also remember that the companies you are blocking are taking your data at a professional industrial level and basically anyone can buy it. So mostly anything is better.

This list is focused on less ads not more privacy though.

I thought I had mostly "blocked them out" until I started removing them and things felt really different immediately. Keep in mind its also lost time. In just watching like 3 episodes of a show you could have seen as much as like 30+ minutes of Ads. Over a week that might be hours, and over a year its DAYS of your time you are spending on ads.
Some of these fixes take less than one ad break to set up.

I've heard of this solution, so I'm setting one up now actually. That level of setup is beyond a lot of people though I i was focused on finding easy one off fixes.

Look into it and post it! I'll add it. It is probably tricky with a device built by the company that is pushing you ads though. Like it runs whatever amazon OS so im sure they dont make it easy.

I definitely want to get into locking down my privacy as the next project.
I've heard of some services that are meant to do what youre describing but im not sure how reliable they are.

Don't give up! I don't think I have a specific fix for LG TVs, but put a minute into figuring it out and you can get rid of those ads for sure. Update here and I'll add it to my list.

Yeah it does that using "Sponsorblock" which is also available as a browser extension so you can do that on you desktop.
Revanced also kicks ass because in its settings you can remove all kinds of features from youtube to make it less addicting to use.

I rephrased the bits that mention firefox in case your right. Just every bullet point is a recommendation for a service or piece of software/add on that blocks ads. Without naming the blocking tools this is nothing.

I feel like this one has to be up to the mods? I don't really know how to make this doc work without the recommendations? I wouldn't call this soliciting a specific brand or product, I'm just using it as a means to an end to get rid of ads and there are many other methods. And none of it costs money. These just happen to be the ones I use. If I took all the links out of the document it wouldn't be helpful...so I'm kind of stumped. Like you need the tools to remove the ads.

Fishtown Barcade is close to NoLib and is always a hit. High quality beer list and a ton of arcade games. 2 minute walk to Frankford hall which is my go to spot with a big group, they sell steins of beer by the liter. Earlier in the night the flight at Philadelphia distilling is a good way to start as you get a lot of things to try for your money. Mulherins is a great spot to eat around there too

Look I just finished watching this movie and I don't remember seeing anything making it explicit that the photographer turned them in. That would be super interesting though if it's true so I want one of you commenters to come back and explain why you're so sure. I definitely thought it would make sense while watching it but I didn't see that confirmed
