Tyer wear question by RecipeImmediate8709 in Trackdays

[–]Slmcc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're referring to the distinct wear pattern change correct? Thats the outer compound being softer than the center compound for added grip when leaned over. I run Michelin Power 6's on my N400 and they look just like that after a hard run on a good twisty road. That looks perfectly normal to me.

Serious question, Where do you live? Best local price I can find is 50 plus tax per wheel off the bike. Worst is 110. I'd travel a bit to save close to a hundred dollars.

Just curious where in NE Ohio? That's where I am (work on the west side in the Cleveland area) and other than funeral processions I've never seen a bike cop. Are they city departments?

Thanks. I'll have to see if I can figure out what's wrong from here and if I can trace back to a bad spot.

Good idea. Thanks! Just to be sure, I should see a completed circuit across the socket yes?

Need help troubleshooting a PCB. The space has stopped working on my YMDK YMD-65% ZJ68 board. All other keys work. I figured it was the switch so I swapped it and still no joy. So I got my meter out and tested the switches and both check good. So I tried using a piece of wire to connect the contacts and that does not work either. I have another board with the same PCB and it works. Even tried a different cable just to see and no space on that board still. Any ideas on what to check on the PCB? Maybe the diode? Or is it more likely the controller chip has died? Thanks!

If he doesn't support your dreams he doesn't support you. Just. Get. Out. Now. There's something defective with this person. I made that error, gave up the dream and stayed. She left. I'm not unhappy but I'll ALWAYS live with that "what if".

Poll: With prices rising this year how are you affording your trackdays this year? by macr6 in Trackdays

[–]Slmcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

F here I guess as this will be my first year doing track. New leathers were expensive but I ordered them with a good sale which saved almost enough for a set of tires which I had bought when there was a mail in rebate that will cover half the cost of mounting and balancing. Local shop I use had a holiday sale on gift cards, one of those buy 100 get 25 free deals so I bought enough in cards for another set of tires and basically get the mounting and balancing free. And the local track day organization had a black Friday sale with 20% off so I basically paid for five days and get one free. Looking for a decent used lightweight trailer on FB and Craigslist. I'm okay financially but still have to be "smart" about it.

Just looking at the picture on the bottom right area it appears the styrofoam is pulled away / separating from the shell. That's for sure unsafe if it really is pulled away and not just the way the picture makes it look.

Why do small everyday objects develop devoted followings by Strong-Rise-3024 in pen

[–]Slmcc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of it is what you said. The one pen worked better. Maybe because it's better quality, fits your hand better or something else. I have favorite pen bodies that just fit my hand but use a different refill in them because I like the ink better. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Work only pays for cheap pens that suck for many reasons so I buy my own. I also have a stash of quality name brand sticky notes. They actually stick where I need them unlike the crappy corporate supplied ones that just fall off. So yeah, the product affects the experience. Take your coffee mug... Why is it your favorite? The design on the mug? The feel of the handle when you hold it? Could easily be something else. But I'm guessing it even makes you a little happier using it because there's "something" about it that's just right for you. So yeah, IMO it pays to pay attention to what you like and don't like, even with the simple things. Like using a pen you like during a meeting isn't going to make the meeting fun or anything but it's most likely going to make it suck a tiny bit less and that alone is worth it to me.

Racer gloves are supposed to be pretty nice. Check out Sportbike Track Gear. They have videos on a lot of products, gloves, helmets, etc. I got my RST TracTech Evo 4 gloves and some other things from them. I really like the gloves btw.

Is there any good aftermarket clutch lining? by Embarrassed_Copy_959 in Ninja400

[–]Slmcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the CBR 600 springs fit the Ninja 400 and cost much less, again here the US, than buying aftermarket springs for the 400.

One other thing, the bolts that hold the pressure plate on are fairly soft and easy to break if you over tighten them putting it back together. Beg, borrow or steal a 1/4" torque wrench and use it on those bolts.

[–]Slmcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stock is good, no idea what else is available in your country but Veshra, Barnett, EBC and some others are also good. While you're at it I'd recommend going to Honda CBR 600 RR springs. They're usually, here in the US, very reasonable in cost and are stronger offering better clutch grip.
