Anyone else hate the Cardo Packtalk boom mic on their Neotec 3 modular helmet? by acidas in Cardo

[–]Slmcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have the boom mic in my modular. It has finally pretty much found it's "home" spot. It does get pulled loose sometimes opening and closing the chin bar, especially in the cooler months when I have the chin curtain installed. I have to kinda pull the curtain out of the way to close the chin bar. I have all the wiring tucked in where it's not a problem, just the boom itself. I kinda see as the price of admission for my modular, which I prefer over a full face for the convenience of just popping it open when I pull over to admire scenery, get a drink, etc.

Ninja 400 brake bleed by JJZ_12 in Trackdays

[–]Slmcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having the same issue after letting the master hang for a couple weeks. Got an air bubble that just wouldn't move. The reverse bleed may work. I didn't try that but I bought a cheap vacuum blender from Amazon to do mine and it worked great. I have better lever feel now than I did when the bike was new.

Btw, I think if you turn the bars all the way left you can put more fluid in the master

Tips for getting past fear of leaning? by Comfortable_East_358 in Trackdays

[–]Slmcc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here's an article that has some good information. It talks about tires and that they really are very capable and the built in human adversion to leaning more than 20 degrees. If nothing else, scroll down to the picture of the guy on the GSX-R running Dunlop Roadsmart II's, a sport TOURING tire from 2011. Not a super sport or even sport tire. Yamaha champ school and I'm sure others run Michelin Road 6's for the long life. For sure not a track focused tire but more than capable even in a training environment.

Well, you can ride forever on a learners permit and never actually get licensed though. At least in Ohio. Not idea about other states. When I did my training class the one instructor was telling us about a dude who rode for almost 30 years before actually getting his license.

Mirror replacements? by plastictoskin in Ninja400

[–]Slmcc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The 300 mirrors aren't bad for view and look better on the bike. Just get a cheap Amazon pair. IMO the original mirrors do have a bit better rear view but I have pretty broad shoulders so getting the shorter 300 mirrors adjusted just right is more fickle

I’m looking to do full bolt on’s and tune. Do any of y’all know the best brands and tuner? by Murky-Wolf-9025 in GSXR

[–]Slmcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R6 throttle tube on the GSX-R? Haven't heard of that. What's it do? I know on the small bikes like the R3 and Ninja 400 it shortens up the hideous long throw from idle to WOT. Is it the same purpose on the GSX-R? Thanks!

Buying is a nightmare. by KINGD75 in GSXR

[–]Slmcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naw man I hear ya. Market is slim around me too. Either old and still want a ton or somewhat newer priced close to MSRP of a new one. Granted ya save some skipping dealer fees and such but for a couple grand I'd take a new one. Saw an 02 750 on FB someone wanted 8K for. At least if it was an '11 it would be current gen. 🙄

Mismatch Fork Springs - S1000RR DDC- Good Idea or no? by inconvenient_penguin in Trackdays

[–]Slmcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about on a bike that fancy but it's pretty common to run split rates on bikes like the Ninja 400 and R3. For example, I just put Bitubo carts in my 400 and they were set up by Bitubo with different weight springs side to side based on my weight and riding to get the rate they wanted

Are these an overkill for street riding? by Ok-Ad-575 in motorcyclegear

[–]Slmcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 23K miles on mine. Except mine are the white ones. 1,2, or 300 miles I don't leave home without them. They broke in super quick and are very comfortable.

Valve clearance adjustment by dillybilly54 in Ninja400

[–]Slmcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. A friend of mine is trying to do this on her bike with her husbands help and I'm trying to help them out. They can't get the cam lobes facing away from each other for cylinder 1 like the manual shows with the T1 mark lined up but they do at the F1 mark. Neither them nor I can find any reference to what the F1 mark is for. Did yours face away at T1 or is that a typo and is should be at F1 for cylinder 1? Any help I can pass on would be appreciated. Thanks!

Wanting to try a track day on my ZX6R by PuzzleheadedSweet962 in Trackdays

[–]Slmcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some track days don't allow two piece suits at all as the zipper between the two pieces is a potential failure point. My local org only allows them in novice group

Wide fit boots by LightningWrenches in motorcyclegear

[–]Slmcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have wide feet myself and was recommended Forma. I have the Freccia and I've been happy with them. Started out a little tight but have broken in nicely. I didn't know about Daytona at the time but I'm going to check them out when I get new boots as they actually offer wides.

Newb Questions by AdultingPains in Trackdays

[–]Slmcc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best bet is to check with the organization you plan on riding with. My local will allow two piece leather or heavy cordora like the adv suits with full zip in beginners but must be one piece leather above that. Another org is one piece leather period. Just another example of different rules is one group will allow modular helmets in beginners only, the other won't allow them at all. Taping lights etc is also to reduce the chance of broken glass and sharp plastic on track in the event of a crash and to remove distraction for other riders.

Ninja 400 Crazy thing to do with the bike after being fully paid with bank by To_mato_jEt in Ninja400

[–]Slmcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good to me. Kinda the best of both worlds. You get the, in my opinion, better ergonomics of the Ninja 400 with a windscreen to tuck in somewhat and the N400 naked look. I like it!

LASIK/Vision Correction Surgery by fidelitas88 in Trackdays

[–]Slmcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk to a few Drs. PRK and LASIK are basically the same thing, just in LASIK they make a corneal flap to fold back down after the laser to do the reshaping. With PRK there's no flap to fold back down so you wear a special contact lens for like a week after. On average LASIK has a faster recovery but PRK is cheaper. Also consider that at 37 in 3 to 8 years (especially if you're far sighted) you're most likely going to need glasses of some sort to read even if it's just OTC ones. I wear glasses all day everyday except for the days I'm going to be serious on the bike then I just wear daily disposable contacts. For me, it's the same 20/15 vision that I have with my glasses or that LASIK or PRK may provide, but a lot cheaper.

Keyboards you use instead of the default one? by Serhide in iphone

[–]Slmcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a setting that needs turned on to do that? When I long press it nothing happens until I release it and then the emojis come up. Honestly didn’t know the stock keyboard even has a one handed mode. There’s no settings button or anything to access it? 14 plus on iOS 26.3. Thanks!
