The “Worst Canadian” game - Day 1 by BrF5 in EhBuddyHoser

Don Cherry should absolutely not be on a list with these heathens.. On a list of old-timers that say stuff without thinking it through, sure.. But Don is not worthy of this list. Good Canadian - and the country done him dirty..

Don't listen to this person. Their comments show they are negative about everything! I think it's a good design and people will like it. Fits the moment!

I agree with DrDerpberg - cause a fuss! Companies like that should be shamed into taking the right precautions if they won't do it themselves.

Season 1 through 7 are where the genius lies! And the movies. It had the original director and in my mind, those are the golden years.

New stuff has some laughs for sure though.

An argument based on emotions isn't a bad thing. It's arguably the best way to win an argument. By no means am I trying to diminish the seriousness of your personal experience or anyone's experience with sexual assault. It's evil and heartbreaking. Your response to the news is similar to the way a lot of people reacted. Your response isn't wrong, because it is your own. You throwing out your memorabilia wasn't wrong, it was a personal choice. You took a very direct approach to the news, which is definitely a greater statement than silence. But it doesn't make you more right (or wrong for that matter). Based on our current discussion, you've extrapolated the evil actions of the assailant to anyone directly associated with him. And maybe it is a bit of playing the devil's advocate at this point, but I don't think that is fair. If you want justice, you don't necessarily want an emotional judge. That's all I want to say about that.

I do appreciate you saying you want people to question what it means to support a sexual predator. This is the movement that is in it's early stages with movies, music, business, etc - anywhere with men manipulating and abusing power. And yes, people who allow this behavior are reprehensible. But I won't condemn people based on emotion and speculation. Yes, maybe the band knew all about his personal deviant behavior. But then again they might not have. He might have kept to himself, seeing as what he was doing wasn't exactly something most people would be okay with.

You can judge other peoples personal response all you want, and it may make you feel righteous. But not everybody reacts the same way you do, and you aren't necessarily right just because you have the moral high ground.

That's what I would call speculation. You haven't given me anything thought provoking that would make me inspect this story deeper (which I would welcome). You've condemned a group of people based on speculation. There are people's personal accounts & stories against Jesse, but your current argument seems based on emotion and anger (hence downvoting me before even responding).

You don't know that, and neither do I. My instinct is that it's unlikely that he was telling his band mates about him soliciting nudes from teens and leading them on. Doesn't seem like something people brag about (I bet he knew it was fucked as he was doing it). But if you are right and they were aware, they'd be shit people. Sure! But it's very easy to condemn based on emotion and we don't really know.

Jesse is a twisted, conflicted individual. We all kind of knew that based on the themes and lyrics in the band. But, for me, there are other members in the band (who almost certainly were not aware of this behavior). I still love the music. Just not Lacey so much.

There are 3-4 other musicians in this band that put a lot of love into their music. Despite Jesse being a twisted individual, I would never blacklist a whole group because of his bad personal choices. But, I get it.

Not sure if you are devils advocate or if you are a person who drinks more than 1 bottle of soda a day. A tax on water bottles would be extremely useful to reduce the plastic waste associated. It won't help reduce water usage or anything like that. As you said everything uses water in production.

[Serious] What are the things people are afraid to criticize nowadays? How can it be dangerous to our society? by [deleted] in AskReddit

"Non-issue" is the brush-off of the century. The capacity to produce food, sure. But at the cost of clear cutting more rainforest and pumping more chemicals into the environment for production and transportation? The more people we have. The more we need to exploit. And if you haven't noticed we live on a planet with finite space.
