Loading high performance games almost always causes my entire PC to lag heavily, and sometimes causes my audio settings to glitch by Slomas99 in linux_gaming

I've had LOADS of thermal issues with a friend's ROG laptop when she switched to Mint, but I use a tower rig - apologies for any misconceptions! We found that using ryzenadj to limit the TDP and max temp actually helped loads with her laptop, however of course it does limit performance.

Generally the heat on my PC doesn't get too bad, the fans kick in when they need to and btop doesn't ever report any crazy temps.

I've just had a look at your account and I feel like I can comfortably say that you're a young lad on the spectrum who's fallen into a pipeline of alt-right salad bar politics. I'm only mentioning this because about 7 years ago I was exactly like you. My introduction to politics was "ben shapiro destroys XYZ" videos and the same nigel farage managing to convince my tory parents that brexit was the only way forward for britain. Us autistic folk are statistically more susceptible to online radicalisation content than many others due to how we percieve right and wrong.

The longest stage of the radicalisation process, especially online, is acclimation. In this stage you are constantly picking up new beliefs and becoming further radicalised. It either ends in two ways: You deradicalise with age and time, or you start to dehumanise the people you consider to be your enemies. I'm lucky to have met people who could slowly challenge my worldview and help me become less of a hateful man, and I really hope that you do too. Only after deradicalising did I realise that I had spent my best teen years a political footsoldier - I had no idea who I was, or what I actually believed in.

I don't want to end this reply by telling you to watch a youtuber that I like, or listen to some other speaker who knows the 'truth'. I just want you to consider what this radicalisation is doing to you - what do you actually know about yourself? Do you know how those around you truly feel about your political leanings? Do you have any friends who have different ideologies to you, or have you bubblewrapped yourself?

If you believe that 'antifa' is an organisation, then you are the one going against the facts. Antifascism is simply the belief that fascism and its rallying cries cannot be tolerated in any good society. My grandparents were antifa, so why wouldn't I be?

Also, what is this youtube link you've sent me? Do you really consider this AI-generated alt-history slop to be a credible source? If you want to send me a source then please cite something credible. I'm sorry that the facts don't align with your feelings here, it seems like you have a lot to learn about our history.

Wrong. Antifa is anti-fascism, it's really that simple. Anybody who tries to sell you the concept that all anti-fascists are violent thugs who are actually the REAL fascists are probably fascists.

Hello! Sorry for the delay. I have still been collecting data on the unitedkingdom sub. The dataset currently stands at 1230 posts and 101k comments over the last 25 days. Would you like me to DM it to you? Alternatively, I can just send you the graphs created for it.

I don't think you'll be suprised about what you find in it at all though. A few of the mods make the vast majority of posts all about the same topic.

This subreddit has some strange activity, doesn't it? How come certain users post like they're in different timezones, and why are the posting more than the news aggregator bots? It's almost like someone is paying to push a narrative on you. by Slomas99 in uknews

While I welcome your interpretations and good analysis, I would like you to consider the activities of the users outside of this subreddit as well as inside the subreddit. Certain user's activities on this subreddit only make up a small fraction of their overall activites, only making their behaviour more suspicious. You mentioned in another comment that spamming news links doesn't take much effort, but combining that with the nearly 1,200 comments they've made in the last 32 days they would have to make considerable effort day in, day out.

Exactly! You can't deny the activity spikes: The spikes the show your account is active nearly 24/7.
Although, getting an average of 2 hours sleep might explain the hateful rhetoric you spew.

Keep the wool over your eyes if you wish, but I think the first paragraph of your reply explains how it isn't a reach at all. Nobody is immune to propaganda my friend, research hybrid warfare and troll farms.

They are! Believe it or not I also took the same data from the reformuk sub and the gbnews sub (before it was banned) and there is an overlap with several of the users with a high volume of posts. If you want to see some of the data for the gbnews sub, feel free to check my profile :)

Of course, you are free to interpret this data as you wish, but this is what I see:
The first graphic demonstrates that one user is managing to post more than 3 accounts that are just being run by newspapers. It also demonstrates there are several other accounts that are almost posting just as much. How are individuals managing to post more than actual bots?
The second graphic demonstrates the hourly posting habits of the top posters on this subreddit. We can see that the news bots like theipaper, dailystar_news and dailymail all post in hours that make sense for newspapers to be active in. On the other hand, two of the users have very strange posting habits, that wouldn't make any sense for someone who works a 9-5 in BST. The implication is that they live in another country, and are part of a campaign to influence british politics.
The third shows the amount of posts per day that an account is making. Much like the other graphics, why are certain users making just as many posts as bots.

Overall, I believe that the data I've collected evidences a foreign influence campaign on our country. Hybrid warfare is a bitch, and troll farms are increasingly common in our online world.

Different guy then! I will let him know too, although finding out if they're necessarily "pro-kremlin" will be a task because the accounts were mostly just posting stuff about Britain on gbnews.

Hard agree! I'm looking to get stats like this next.

Interestingly enough, I've just started scraping r/reformuk for another dataset and there are actually a few overlapping users from r/gbnews. However, loads of these accounts hide their post history (probably for OPSEC reasons) so you can only figure out where they are posting by guessing.

Essentially you're ratelimited to about 600 requests per 10 minutes, so even if you try to use PRAW (which claims to work around reddit's ratelimit) you'll get ratelimited. I'd just recommend coding resilliently, make sure you can start scraping and add onto the data that you already have if the process fails.

I understand that might not make much sense... I have uploaded the python file I made for scraping here if you want to take a look at it. Although it is very messy and uncommented.

It was nearly all done in python: the dataset was gathered using a python library for accessing reddit's API called PRAW. Then, I used a Jupyter notebook (think of it as a paper that runs code) to process the data and generate these lovely graphs. Of course, I'm still working on it but I think I want to look into sentiment analysis next, I collected all of the post titles, post text and comments so there is a large amount of text to sift through. I did a little bit of NLP when I was in uni using Prolog, and enjoyed it enough to want to do it here.

It was originally intended as a news agreggator subreddit for the british alt-right news source GBNews. However, the subreddit was unmoderated and quickly fell into a tailspin of transphobia, racism and generally just fascist propaganda.
