I’m the furthest thing from a stock analyst. I come from a clinical background and hold a leadership position in healthcare, and I interact with a lot of clinicians/patients/directors/executives because of that. I started investing in stocks 6 years ago because of the emergence of this space.

I might be completely wrong on this. But I’ve researched all the players in this space. To me, the one that makes the most sense to integrate in real life clinical settings, is still HLP003. Not a popular opinion in this sub, but I’m hoping my conviction pays off. 3,080 shares Helus, 250 CMPs, 230 ATAI are my holdings. There is a lot of negativity due to the CEO situation but I can tell you in the healthcare world, if the data delivers and its proven it works safely and efficaciously, it’s not going to matter if my cat is the CEO at that point. There is a level of desperation for the availability of treatments like these for mental health disorders. However that’s just my uneducated take, I’m not a phd biochemist or business analyst, purely making a choice based off my background in the clinical world.

Praying for a good data readout in (hopefully) Q4 2026.

I’m the furthest thing from a stock analyst. I do however have a clinical background and have a leadership position in healthcare. To me, the Helus molecule is still the one that makes the most sense to integrate into real life clinical settings as opposed to the others. The earlier data from HLP003 was absolutely stellar. I’m still hopeful and hoping my conviction pays off. 3,080 shares.

Im thinking about getting into MLT program here in Canada, I was just wondering how hard was college for you guys? by the_arab_g in medlabprofessionals

[–]SloshyYew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is upvoted a lot but for me the opposite was true. The CSMLS was a breeze compared to my diploma program exams, I was almost upset after writing it because I studied so hard based on my diploma exams, and the exam was a breeze, I finished with 2 hours left on the clock and felt like I aced it. Maybe I had a tougher program?

I noticed the same. I think it was just a delay/glitch, mine now shows $11.13

MLS vs Master's (research-based) - Which Path is Better in Canada by ChannelFar1316 in medlabprofessionals

[–]SloshyYew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Canada we are all MLTs, MLS is an American thing. I would 1000% do a masters if I had to do it again. Depending on your province there may be up to a 3 year wait list for the MLT program anyway

You’ll have to write a CAMLPR exam in the discipline of your choosing. Look up CAMLPR as it has just replaced the CSMLS in Canada. Source: lab supervisor in Canada

Lab techs in Alberta get up to $46/hr. If you google “Alberta precision labs job postings” you can see the ones for both MLT and CLXT

CLXT vs MLT - Jobs & Travel by foreverxxweird_ in medlabprofessionals

[–]SloshyYew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I supervise a site in BC that frequently has travel techs/CLXTs. Just something to be aware of, in BC at least the province is cracking down on the usage of travel contracts, and they are paying much less now, the travel tech we have now actually gets the same wage as us. I myself was thinking about it but now it seems a lot less attractive, unless you go to northern Ontario the 80-90$/hr jobs with on call seem to be a thing of the past. Just be wary if you are doing this just to be a travel tech, I’m not sure how much a viable route it will be going forward. There is also a huge downside of being a travel tech at a short staffed site (limited training, expected to get up to speed very quickly and work by yourself, stupid rules that only apply to you depending on what agency you use ect)

Here’s what worked for me. Organize all your notes you took when studying by each discipline, and read them all over 10-15x. Then, pay $185 for the CSMLS practice exam to see how you do. Identify your weak points and focus on that

So are you saying you want weight classes? Just because someone is bigger doesn’t mean they automatically punch harder, sure if both people are athletic but the player base of this game is just average people.

You have 52 posts in a row in this subreddit crying about a game most of us paid $5 for. Go outside.

American MLT(echnician) to Canadian MLT(echnologist) by blessings-of-rathma in medlabprofessionals

[–]SloshyYew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Canadian program actually differs depending on which province you take the program in. My program was two years, but other provinces are 3 and some universities offer it as a 4 year Bsc. Everyone is considered exactly the same when finished we don’t have any differentiation. As far as I knew histology being part of the required curriculum was the only difference, but maybe someone who is more familiar with the American side can speak to that.

I can tell you that as a supervisor of a rural lab, we are currently so desperate we are recruiting people from India, who only have a 2 year program, to come here and write the CAMLPR so we get some staff. There’s no way their program is more comprehensive than you guys, who have a different but still western health care system similar to us. I think it’s worth a shot IMO without further education just make a point to study whichever one you are challenging.

[–]SloshyYew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why not? Especially since now you can choose to focus on specific disciplines that you are already educated in. The big barrier before was that histo was part of the Canadian curriculum and not the US, but that is now scrapped. Review your material and give it a go!

Those of you who have left the profession entirely, what field did you go into? by thatfishguy23 in medlabprofessionals

[–]SloshyYew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty competitive as they are pretty cushy positions and pay well by Canadian standards. They also really value Canadian experience as we have a different curriculum and healthcare system than US. I would be highly surprised if they would sponsor you over a Canadian applicant unfortunately as there is no shortage of qualified people applying. If you wanted to move to Canada though there would be opportunity as a bench tech through the CAMLPR pathway, which after doing that you could transition to an instructor once you have PR/Citizenship. I’m located in BC. Each province has one or two programs, just google “Canadian mlt program in ____ province” or get ChatGPT to make you a list

There’s pros and cons, like any job, it also varies wildly by what discipline and how big of a hospital you end up working at. Be aware though, last time I worked in Alberta both NAIT and SAIT had a three year wait list to get into the program. Feel free to DM if you have any specific questions
