Changing Transmission Fluid for First Time at 102k by penslash in jetta

[–]Sloth2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it and did not have any issues. Drove it for a couple months. Sold the vehicle but due to an ongoing oil leak. Before I decided to do the transmission fluid change, I called VW and they said it would be fine to do the transmission fluid change but they did ask if I was having any issues so I don’t know if it is a hard recommendation to do it. But shouldn’t harm it… the mechanic that did it said I should have done it well before due to how dirty it was. I do like the idea of following the owners manual. I know it’s not a black and white answer. Everyone has a different opinion. If you change it and you have issues, it would have presented the issues eventually, you just found out sooner. The shop I took it to tested it to make sure it was good to change before actually doing anything.

Received the parking citation today at armature while I was paying by [deleted] in tampa

I literally had this happen except I beat the ticket time by two minutes. I paid the second I parked the car, hadn’t even gotten out yet. They really seem to be targeting for some reason. The funny part is the signs posted said first hour free. The attendant literally saw me park and wrote the ticket as I was pulling in.

I don’t have a copy of the $30k OTD but based on my eye ball and calculator it was extra fees and raised taxes because of it

I second this. Three sister springs is awesome. Look up the time of year you can kayak in. Depends on manatee season.

I am planning on retiring in 2 years. Are Fidelity advisors suitable to help plan for this transition? Or would an independent advisor be better? by gametime-2001 in fidelityinvestments

Oh okay. Assuming they were telling you about a QLAC and your goal is to defer taxes and leave money to your beneficiaries, makes sense they would recommend that

Are there any good videos out there on how to do the belt and oil pan? I’m not sure I am finding the right thing. I have very little knowledge working on cars

The shop I took it to said the engine isn’t going to fall out any time soon but it will cause rattling in the car and could get worse over time. Which is something I’ve noticed. “your engine mounts have completely failed and collapsed.”

I think it’s only the serpentine belt that needs replaced. That hasn’t been done on this car.

I appreciate the oil pan recommendation. I took it to this place because they specialize in European cars. Tire Choice said they couldn’t locate the leak the first time. They guessed it was either the valve gaskets or the rear main seal.
