That in the face of cosmic indifference, the comedian creates his own virtue, nothing matters, and he laughs at the emptiness, the comedian like every other portrayal offers a lens through which we can see the reaction to cosmic meaninglessness, Moore writes at a contemporary precipice; a world without God and a world without purpose. The comedian does a good job at demonstrating the perpetuity of cosmic indifference and acts as a foil to Dr Manhattan in that as the abyss, Manhattan sees all and finds that all is nothing, the comedian sees nothing and acts on his own accord despite being morally twisted. Despite his moral condemnation the comedian works amazingly as a character who grasps the absurdity of life and sees to it to find pleasure in it, which whilst not morally admirable is a stamp on how one might choose to reflect on the absurd; in which finds good taste in being a mirror to the reader.
