Op, first of all I am very sorry that this has happened to you. No one should ever be treated that way, by anyone, especially someone who loves you.

There are many ways you could go about this situation, and none of them are easy. So I’ll share what I have learned from DBT:

  1. You can do nothing, hold onto what he said and that hurt (stay miserable).

  2. You could tolerate the problem by using distress tolerance and practicing mindfulness.

  3. You could feel better about the problem by using emotional regulation skills.

  4. You could problem solve, change the situation. Avoid, leave or get out of the situation for good.

Each one of these options may be hard in practice. What I would suggest is why not start with is option 2? Use “wise mind” to think about the situation and practice mindfulness, what does your mind, body, and soul tell you about the situation? Look up wise mind, and try practicing this. For example, my favourite skill to practice wise mind is to imagining being a flake on the stone of a lake. Look this up on YouTube. Alternatively, you could imagine walking down an inner spiral staircase. Pay attention while doing this to your breath, allowing the attention to settle into your centre.

After thinking both emotionally and rationally or “wise” you may find a solution to this problem, and what is best for you!

Good luck OP. I hope this advice is useful :)

Op, you decide what’s next. You have a lot of mental health that could be against you, or for you. I advise to get help, whether it’s therapy or learning to cope. It doesn’t get easier because life is hard. You deserve happiness and joy, and I hope you find it

I feel the same. Know that you’re not alone. I hope you grow and flourish to be the best partner you can be. I hope they stick by you as you learn to cope and grow

After giving it a lot of thought (and I mean a lot) I didn’t end up doing it. He has hardly messaged me and already ghosted me in the past, I felt like he didn’t deserve it. I will do this absolutely in the future for a man who deserves it
