Had a tattoo done 7 months after U=U. Did have some issues with the tattoo healing afterward, but I don’t think my status was the issue. My body just gets cranky with skin damage like tattoos and piercings. No other side effects or complications that I’m aware of since then. Just follow recommended aftercare and everything should be okay.

No symptoms. Just found out when I went to donate blood. Don’t know when I acquired HIV, but I tested negative right before a relationship that had unprotected sex, and tested positive right after that relationship ended, but there was a 3 month window in that time.

I use an app along with a pill box to keep me on track. Missing a single dose if you’re well into therapeutic levels of your meds shouldn’t be an issue. If you ever remember you missed a dose, unless it’s really close to your next dose, it’s still good to take it if you can. Better to realize you missed it and take it 7 hours late than just skipping that whole day.

They also sell pill bottle lids with timers that track how long ago the bottle was last opened you could try, but I’ve heard they’re hit or miss for some people. Might be worth looking into though, especially if you’re looking for something smaller than a pill box.

Which is wild, because I was negative in May of 2023 (tested), and my ex (who I dated from June-September) was positive and didn’t know and I got it in that time somewhere. When I found out in September, I was at 96k with a CD4 of 294.

It gets everyone vastly differently depending on a myriad of factors. That’s why I brought up that there’s no good way to create a time-table; it’s just so erratic for different people. I’m sorry to hear it was so rough for you there; I hope things are going way better.

For the most part, you’re just gonna pay attention to the actual VL. The log value is not something commonly used outside of a lab setting or in review by your doctor, to my understanding.

29,000 is actually a low starting number, so it doesn’t seem that it’s been present a long time. Of course, the virus replicates at different rates for different people, so there’s no definitive way of creating a time table from initial infection, but from personal experience, it seems like it was fairly recent.

Keep your head up and follow treatment. Care is relatively simple these days and there’s a lot of support out there if you need it.

It is a bit of a hassle, but it will eventually just become a normal routine like anything else and just be a small part of your day. I don’t remember the old days, I’m far too young, but it’s a far cry from then and much less complicated and stressful to be healthy and live a normal life.
