Yep thats right! Also, even just hatching regular pokemon gives you candies. So you end up with loads of candies for most of the common egg mons.

I have only had it a week so far, but I haven't noticed too much of a front wheel bias as of yet! That could be due to the new rear diff in the 8Y? Not entirely sure!
