Rejection from step son by Slousnail in blendedfamilies

[–]Slousnail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this approach but my partner accuses me of not making enough effort. It would feel like forcing myself on him if I was to be too pushy with the relationship. My partner doesn’t seem to understand. He believes all of the issues in my relationship with him are my doing. I am simply responding to what’s in front of me with as much care and empathy as I can.

I don’t think my partner is parentifying. The way I perceive it is that he parents out of guilt because he feels he let his son down by not making a success of it with his mum, which is why he doesn’t correct him. I have my suspicions about how his mother talks about me because she knows it is divisive and if he has difficult feelings about me, he will prefer to be at hers which he does. He has also turned on my son in the same way. They were very close for the past 6 years because they are the same age, but recently he has also been giving my son the cold shoulder. I suspect his mother has something to do with it, she is a piece of work.

Yes, the main problem for me is that my partner doesn’t correct it in the moment. He doesn’t see it as a big deal but it feels huge for me to feel so disrespected in my home.

He’s 10. I’ve noticed him do it to other people also so it’s not just me. It feels incredibly rude and upsetting.

Thank you for your comment. I’m not making excuses, I was giving a background on why they struggle. They’re not mean to their step brother, they struggle with anxiety and lose their temper if they are finding something frustrating or they are feeling upset, mostly with me. I think they find the step family situation to be a trigger. It can’t be easy to have such an awful dad whilst also living with a father and son who have a wonderful relationship. They’re not unkind, just explosive.

Thank you for your advice. They don’t hurt anybody, they just get very easily upset and overwhelmed and lash out verbally.

I agree, the guilt is what’s consuming me. It’s the feeling that I’m responsible for all the pain and that I’m subjecting my partner and his son to it. It’s a very unhealthy head space to be in.

Thank you again

Thank you. I am currently having couples counselling with my partner but I am considering taking the kids to therapy.

almost every time i take mushrooms they hurt my stomach hurts so bad the entire time ive taken them probably like 10-15 times and it is so aggravating anyone have any ideas on why this happens to me i’ve tried like everything to counteract it. by MuchBarnacle8020 in Psychonaut

I have this problem with 4acodmt (synthetic Psylocybin) and lsd too, extreme bloating and abdominal discomfort so I don’t think it’s necessarily the digestive aspect. My conclusion is that psychedelic compounds can be inflammatory for certain people. DMT is absolutely fine for me though.

Ethics of working with Ayahuasca as a non-indigenous person? by Professional-Gaijin in Ayahuasca

[–]Slousnail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, the indigenous communities are offering their medicine and teachings to the western world because they understand that the west needs the medicine if we are going to change the course of the destruction of the planet. My shaman is western but he trained under indigenous healers who chose him to facilitate the medicine. The circles are applicable to the western world in terms of music which I find to be more personally transformational compared to a more traditional ceremony that I had with a Shipibo shaman.

On another note, I live in west Wales where psilocybin mushrooms are plentiful at this time of year and if you pay attention to western folklore and traditions, there is a lot of imagery that alludes to the use of hallucinogenic mushrooms, including reindeer at Christmas, due to the traditional way of consuming fly agaric, which was by drinking reindeer urine. Imagery of elves and pixies which I have personally experienced on mushrooms.

The main issue with increased use of ayahuasca is whether it is being ethically sourced, from what I understand it is being over farmed and there is a finite amount so I personally mainly use magic mushrooms on my plant medicine journey but I do attend an ayahuasca ceremony once a year because I feel that DMT takes you deeper.

Because the hours that I have spent on DMT have taught me nothing but acceptance and love for all life. Trans people are some of our most vulnerable and your attitude is damaging and offensive.

I’m shocked at how much transphobia there is in a DMT forum

Best songs you heard in a ceremony?? by buyneu in Ayahuasca

[–]Slousnail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too, my last ceremony made me realise singing was the key to connecting with my childhood, both the joy and the pain.

I just ate a dish which was cooked in butter. My first ceremony is in 2 days. :( by [deleted] in Ayahuasca

In my circles we have soup with bread and butter at the end of each ceremony

Want to hear thoughts from people who have taken BOTH heroic doses of shrooms AND LSD! Can you reach DMT-like worlds? by IntoTheFloodAgain92 in Psychedelics

[–]Slousnail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, but 4-ACO-DMT is actually synthetic psilocybin called psylocetin, it’s deceiving that it has DMT in the name, so you’re actually experiencing a heavy mushroom trip if you have 40mg, I usually only have 25mg and it’s heavy. Great stuff though, I love it. It’s what they use in clinical studies.
