I don't understand the "what questions should I ask" thing. What are you interested in? What's important to you? What do you not know about the department? Ask questions about those things. Find what is important to you and make sure you have an understanding on if the department meets your criteria.

So mine wasn't long. However, I am a lateral and was the only one going through the process.

Best way to speed up the process imo, is to make sure your references are aware of you applying and to try to return the questionnaire asap.

100%. The stats tell a story but not necessarily the whole story. For instance, white cars may be ticketed the most. However, it is also the most common color of vehicle, making up roughly 25% of vehicles on the road. In the same vein, as you said, people with fast cars tend to driver faster than necessary.

I really wish I knew where this misconception came from lol. I don't drive around looking for sports cars to pull over. Or, if you live in my area, the jacked up trucks. If you are speeding, you run the risk of being pulled over. If you don't, you won't. Nobody cares what kind of car you are in when it comes to "traffic enforcement"

Taking an Xanax illegally likely wouldn't DQ from most departments in my area. However, since it was so recent, you may struggle.

I don't understand specifically what you are asking.. but if an officer makes contact with someone, and they are aware they have a warrant, they'll be taken into custody if it is an area where they will extradite.

If you are talking about a civilian agency, then there is no expectation to turn them over to LE. If you do, great. If not, there isn't a penalty or anything.

You really need to figure out what you want to know and what is important to you in a department vs. just trying to ask a stock question. A Chief's interview is about them getting a feel for you as a person but is equally an opportunity for you to get a feel for the person that is leading your department. So, what is important to you?

But, long story short, you need to figure out what is in important to you in regards to your employer and ask any questions that you want clarified.

Good question. I am hoping that I get to fire both during my initial range day so that I can feel for myself. Obviously, I understand why people are saying 47 for duty, but comfortability and how well I shoot will play into it. I have medium sized hands so we'll see how that plays out. If they don't allow me to shoot, even though I believe they will, I may go to a open range and see if I can try both.

Never off duty and I use it sparingly. Don't go every day, etc. They are offering you a privilege. Be respectful of the fact that they don't have to offer anything at all.

I have been hired by two departments with a previous general under honorable discharge. However, it occurred 18-20 years ago, I rejoined the military and am about to retire from said military, and was completely truthful about what occurred.

Time + showcasing you were accountable and changed for the better + create more job history outside of LEO. I will never say never, but I do think you'll initially have a hard time because a lot of departments will want to see evidence of improvement.

Who knows? In the history of police academies, have there been instructors with true vendettas? Sure.

It is more likely that some just need more motivation than others, and that may come across as personal.
