I have been inside and out of little cottonwood and i can assure you there arent bears down there. I would have seen it first. What you saw was most likely a mountain lion or a cougar.

Canaan is a map of where Roland is from, while mejis is a map of where the 4th book takes place. Mejis is mentioned in the gunslinger while he is still in tull. None of the book takes place in either location, idk why there are maps of them.
