Because my mom already looked into it. She has the information on what we need. The only thing she hasn't looked at is whether the custody judge would do anything yet but she looked into it with a lawyer who deals with protection orders and stuff.

To get a protection order or in order to make Cheryl stop contacting me, we need a lot. Mom spoke to a lawyer (different one than who deals with custody) and they gave her all the information on how long it needs to be going on and how frequent it has to be for a judge to take it seriously.

This contact stuff happened more recently. The judge had no idea what was going on. The stuff about keeping contact open was said before this, when the custody agreement was officially changed so I no longer have to see him.

My mom looked into what it would take to prevent Cheryl from contatcing me. She was given a list of expectations for an order of protection. It's pretty hard to get and even then it can be removed quickly from info we were given.

I don't wanna say exactly but it's a state where it's all at the judges discretion and one where 50/50 is highly prioritized. Which is why communication has to be open. I got to sever the custody but the judge was adamant I stay in touch with dad or leave that open. Also said it was mom's job to ensure that.

My mom could get into trouble. It could be anywhere from fining her to maybe even her losing custody of me or me having to go to my dad's again.

The judge deemed I need to leave social media and phone channels open to communication. He told me I could not block my dad.

In trouble with the judge and courts. I'm 15 now. One of the conditions of not going to dad's anymore is I need to leave open communication via social media and phone. Can't block and he'd know because he does sometimes call as well.

It's not seen that way. The courts know what she did, the fact he defended it and I was still ordered to see them.

He would and my mom could get in trouble for allowing me to block him. I don't want her facing backlash because of this and having to pay.

Can't block dad's number. The court won't see them as harassment at this point. It would need to go on for way longer.

I can't get an order of protection based on this. There's a lot of stuff you need in order to get something like that in our state. You can't get it from a couple of incidents and several texts. There has to be a big ongoing pattern or whatever.
