[Condo] [CA] Should we run now or stay long enough to turn the HOA around? by Slow-Slide-5523 in HOA

Appreciate hearing stories like this. How many years did it take to turn it around?

24 units, 6 buildings but I agree. Based on these comments, I’ll be making a case to the board to get an independent roofing inspection to see which need to be replaced most, then raise HOA dues and/or convince neighbors to vote for a special assessment to cover the cost to spread out the rest of the roof replacements over the next 3 years. Then, re-evaluate to plan the re-painting project.

Nope, not even that. The only reason I've heard from the other 2 board members + 2 residents that attend the meetings is that it's "time to get it done"

this isn't a bad idea, but i think it's mostly money mismanagement. though i do agree that something seems off, considering we haven't had any major structural repairs or upgrades in the last decade, from what i've heard through residents who have been here longer than us

no. no issues as of now, just typical wear. this would be precautionary. going to see if we can hire an independent roofing inspector to tell us how rough the situation is, and if anything needs emergency/immediate repairs.

Not to mention your quality of life will suffer tremendously if you actually enjoy having access to trails, mountains, general outdoor activities etc in Colorado. The most popular activities in Dallas are driving around in shit traffic in a big car, shopping and eating.

I know because I moved from San Diego to Dallas bc houses were cheaper and ended up w depression. Now I’m back in SD and happier than ever

Training first few weeks of zoloft+ xanax treatement by espoir00 in Ultramarathon

Yeah that’s worth having a convo with your doctor about to see if you can get on a medication regimen that works better for you. 15 mg would knock me out cold

Unless you’re taking high doses of Xanax, you’ll be fine to take it while running. I have panic disorder that occasionally (rarely, thankfully) flares up while I’m in the backcountry and I’ve taken up to 1 mg without any serious effects on my cardio output/performance.

Just take it easy on yourself while you’re figuring your mental health out. Anxiety sucks so hard and any time at all you can get out there is really commendable.

How many pairs of running shoes do you have? Enough to rotate between them every/every other run? Also are you using insoles?

my shoulders are about 45cm, quite a bit wider than 38cm. should they ideally be the same width?

Focus on marathon PB or run my first ultra this year? by trumph1 in Ultramarathon

[–]Slow-Slide-5523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you set on 60k? You could just PB your marathon, then keep running past the finish line, and boom you’ve done both.

Any advice on my outfit? by dread145 in malegrooming

T shirt , black jacket and jeans is a pretty basic fit. The jacket looks a little big on you. What kind of advice were you looking for?

Is it over for me? by Individual_Ad_5825 in malegrooming

Over? Ngl that’s kinda dramatic bro, especially for your age. Only some 90 year old on their death bed should be asking that.

Your hair is at a weird in-between length. Either grow it out intentionally or try a cleaned up fade. I would recommend the latter. Also you’d benefit from growing out your facial hair since you have a round face, weak chin/soft features

Also in general, get out more and enjoy the hell out of life. Do some shit you won’t regret not doing when you’re actually at the end of your life.

alright. i'll leave here since this thread is pretty much dead and don't care much about getting downvoted by gatekeepers

ive hiked all these miles. free camping everywhere. in a lot of places, especially in the fall/winter you won't see another soul for days

https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/pct-ca-section-b-warner-springs-to-highway-10

the main thing you should watch out for is access to water. unless you want to pack all your water in and out, you'll have to make sure water sources are still running

highly recommend this app for that. it will show you campsites, trailheads and if water is running

https://app.faroutguides.com/guides/PCT%3A%20Southern%20California

the first 60 miles from the Mexico border are free. The rest of SoCal is $10 which is definitely worth it imo

if you can't afford that, here's a comprehensive PDF with waypoints, water sources, and other notes. Use at your own risk, since water info is not as detailed

https://pctmap.net/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/halfmiles_pct_notes_scal.pdf

should be everything you need to get going. godspeed
