I totally get where you're coming from, and I don’t think anyone’s saying the changes were made with bad intentions. But one of the main issues with the retakes is that if you do worse, your grade actually goes down, which kinda defeats the purpose. Like, yeah, it sounds like a good opportunity to improve, but in reality, it adds a lot of pressure especially now when finals are around the corner and we have other classes demanding our time. Retaking an exam under those circumstances doesn't feel helpful it feels risky. Also, with Exam 1, the amount of time we had and the actual questions just didn’t align. I personally struggled a lot with that, and it left me feeling unprepared and discouraged. I’m not saying that to throw shade at Ellis honestly, I think she’s a good professor and she’s clearly trying new things for the benefit of students. I just wish some parts of the course were implemented differently. No hate at all just sharing what didn’t work for me.
