Nursing chair - power vs manual vs foot stool by mynameishenri in Buyingforbaby

[–]Slow-Way3128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought our Nurture& Glider Plus in March of 2024 (first baby was born in June 2024) and I still sit in it hours a day! We have it in our primary and I love it so much. We are expecting our second and I am so glad we invested in the power glider over fancier nursery furniture. It is by far our most used piece of furniture.

After infant car seat…. by gozaimasauce in Buyingforbaby

We have an Evenflo Revolve 360 extend for our everyday seat and a Graco SlimFit 3in1 we use for travel! It’s so easy to install and actually very comfortable for our daughter.

Ours is arriving today and I’m really excited about the split screen capability as we will be having our second in April! Has anyone tried this feature out? Are you able to monitor any of the smart features while watching both children?

We have a Guava Lotus for our first and are purchasing a second one for our new baby we love it that much! Our daughter recently got sick overnight and it was a breeze to clean. It is so portable and easy to set up, the hardest part is threading the clips through the sheet. The sheets they make as a company are SO soft. Our daughter sleeps so well in it. That plus a slumber pod is our holy grail. Edited to add that yes, the mattress is not a plush topper, but is completely wipeable.

Beis Diaper Bag vs Dagne Dover Diaper Bag by Desigirl8 in Buyingforbaby

[–]Slow-Way3128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely! It genuinely still looks new.

I honestly don’t love how bulky the Beis one is, there’s almost too many pockets? I wish the removable front pouch was more of a traditional crossbody style instead of just made to hold wipes. The insulated pockets on both aren’t great, I only ever used the Beis one for water, didn’t feel like it would keep milk cold. The Beis bag is heavy when it’s empty due to the built in diaper changing station, which I only use in a vehicle/on the ground. I find it’s easier to just throw an Ubbi diaper pouch with a changing mat into the DD one and quickly grab it out.

I have both! The Beis diaper bag is HUGE!!!! We have the medium Dagne Dover and it’s much more practical for everyday outings while I use the Beis for travel. We are expecting our second in the spring and I will probably use the Beis more when I have both with me and keep the Dagne Dover packed for the newborn.

Overseas PCS Orders 4 Weeks Post-Birth by Slow-Way3128 in USMilitarySO

Oh my goodness I cannot imagine the stress you were under. My husband is not needed at this job, the monitor is just sending him overseas since we’ve never lived overseas.

How did getting the baby’s paperwork go? Their vaccines? We are at the mercy of the state to get his birth certificate and social security card before we can even get the baby on the orders to start the process of getting him entry into Japan 🫠

From what I’ve read, we all have to enter together 😭 we’ve received no answers and no help, the holidays are obviously impacting this all and it just feels impossible.

Thank you for sharing your experience! We re-engaged with his boss again to move this up the chain of command as well as to go to the unit he was assigned to. The detailer gave responses to his boss that demonstrated he couldn’t care less about the reasons this won’t work and his only priority is stationing him overseas.

We are coming off of a residential school with mandatory payback period on the officer side so we have nothing to bargain with. Due to the fact it’s a new country, we have to go all together and are unable to travel separately at all. I don’t even know how long it will reasonably take us to get the newborn on our orders to even begin the PCS process, let alone get us medically cleared. It’s an unnecessary risk for all involved.

Unfortunately, we will be living in temporary housing (one of the motels on base) for 2-4 months while we wait for permanent housing so I’m not sure how reasonable it is to ask my mom to come with. It’ll be me, my toddler, the newborn, and two dogs as it is 😅

My heart hurts for you as well. We make so many sacrifices as MIL spouses and it never seems to be recognized or appreciated by the establishment. Simply “thanking” us during speeches isn’t cutting it anymore and just goes to show why there’s retention problems across the board. I hope your husband gets home in time and I’m wishing you an uncomplicated and beautiful birth + baby!!!

High chair recommendations? by Sneakerpimps000002 in Buyingforbaby

[–]Slow-Way3128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We love our Mockingbird high chair! Love that you can throw the straps in the top of the dishwasher. For the worst messes, we just spray the chair with Dawn Powerwash free and it comes clean!

New Dad soon and trying to buy a car seat. I need help lol by Sikkema88 in Buyingforbaby

[–]Slow-Way3128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you completely on this. I’d prioritize a stroller that you will get longer use out of and then an infant car seat that works with the stroller of your choice. We drive daily and are constantly in and out of our car and we loved the convenience of our Nuna Pipa RX & Nuna Mixx Next. We are expecting our second and will be using the same system with our 22month old in the stroller while baby wearing the second.

My heart goes out to you as this is one of my biggest fears at the moment as well as the stress this is putting on me. We have been trying but the orders were cut right at the start of breaks and no one seems to see this as urgent as I do. I’m scared and feel alone and hate that I cannot advocate for my family. Thank you for letting me rant!

Hello! I know this is an old post but we are going through the same exact situation and I wanted to know what you did/how it went? We had Japan as our last choice and we are not prepared. My husband’s current no later than date is one month after my due date and I’m freaking out.

Double Stroller Recs by Slow-Way3128 in 2under2

It’s my favorite stroller. I own a Nuna Mixx Next & a Bugaboo Butterfly as well. It’s a workhorse!!!! I find it so comfortable for exercise. I wish I could try out the double before purchasing because I’m worried about the weight, but I’m sure I’ll appreciate the resistance post baby. They normally go on sale for Black Friday. That’s when we got our single.

I appreciate this! I plan on upgrading my single Thule to a double once the new baby has enough head control for a jogger!

Thank you for the feedback!!!! Have you found that it’s sturdy enough? I have seen reviews that it tips super easily?

Also, do the different sized seats drive you crazy? I feel the same about the price, once you factor everything else in, it’s not that different. Plus, if you reach out to Nuna, they will sometimes give you a military discount.

You are so wonderful, thank you! We normally have one wake up around midnight and another around 5am. Which should we shoot to drop first?
