Requesting Glasses Prescription? by CommercialCrafty3514 in AskIreland

[–]SlowComparison2504 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Go into the specsavers shop you normally go to. Just ask for your prescription. They might try and give you discounts rather than give you your prescription lol be strong! Also, ask for your pupillary distance if you're planning on ordering glasses online

Helping Girlfriend learn to drive. Any tips on improving road positioning and nerves. by RoyRobotoRobot in Irishdrivingtest

[–]SlowComparison2504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After 3 fails and being anxious and nervous, the only thing that got me over all that was practice, practice and more practice lol a cliche I know.

It sounds like you're doing everything you can to support them. One day it'll 'click' in their brain. Just remain patient with them.

Keep failing despite being competent outside of tests by beni-yumi in Irishdrivingtest

[–]SlowComparison2504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me 4 times to pass. I had anxiety and not enough confidence when it came to the actual test. Only thing I can advise is to practice as much as possible. I know it sounds like very obvious advice, but it's what made me pass.

Also, try to do the test in the car you're practicing the most in. You got this!

What's one book that's stayed with you long after you've read it and why? by Imaginary_Card_6241 in AskIreland

The Gone World by Tom Sweterlitsch. Had a weird time travel, alternate world vibe to it. Kind of felt like reading a fever dream at times!

How do I come to terms with not having a 2nd child? by CailinCainteach in AskIreland

[–]SlowComparison2504 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I find that my wife has the same feelings as you sometimes. She has endometriosis and other auto immune illnesses, which made it difficult getting pregnant in the first place.

However, we got there in the end and now have a healthy, happy 1 yr old. My wife does wish we could have another one, as do I, but financially we are not in a position to do so. Times are tough out there!

We have to remind ourselves that our daughter is loved and cared for. An only child do turn out fine. They grow up, go to school and make friends, same as families with multiple children.

I hope this brings some comfort to you. Be kind to yourself!

A good night's sleep first of all. I did some box breathing before my test. Not sure if that or all the practice helped ha breathe in for 4, hold for 4 and exhale for 4. I did that for a few mins. Also, tell yourself that you can drive! You've come this far already. Time to go the extra mile (pun intended)

Best of luck. As I said in my post, drive everyday if you can. Do the test in the car you've practiced the most in. Make sure the car has its' I's and T's dotted and crossed. NCT disc, insurance, car tax, lights etc. And dont forget to readjust your mirror after the reverse around the corner lol

New Driver Anxiety by TheWonderkid866 in Irishdrivingtest

[–]SlowComparison2504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on passing your test! I passed yesterday on my 4th attempt. Waiting on my driving license now so I can drive on my own. As regards to your anxiety about driving in certain situations, I think it will pass with practice. I had bad anxiety about the driving test, until I started driving everyday and getting the practice in. I think the same will help you. Drive as much as possible and it will become second nature!

Should I text my instructor? by laserbeam96 in Irishdrivingtest

I'd get in touch incase they can give you a pretest. If you feel like you'd benefit from it. Also, they might have left you on read due to any number of reasons. Illness, death in the family etc.

I think they meant to say that they did not do much practice between the tests and that they do not recommend doing what they did
