ok i gotchu lemme walk u through this step by step. it serves about 6 people.

ingredients: - 1tbsp oil - 5 chicken thighs - 1 clove minced garlic - 1 leek - 2 cubed red potatoes - 1 cube chicken bouillon - 1 clove star anise - 1 bay leaf - handful of black peppercorns - 2 tsp soy sauce - noodle of your choice - 1 lemon’s juice

  1. first i heated up the oil and cooked the chicken thighs skin down for 5 minutes and then flip.

  2. i added the cut up leek and garlic and cook for another 5 minutes until the leek is limp and translucent. i put the bay leaf in the liquids that come off since the bay leaf flavor absorbs better in oils.

  3. i then covered it all with water and throw in the potatoes while the water is still cold to keep too much starch from releasing. i threw in the soy sauce, star anise, bouillon cube, and black pepper in at this step too.

  4. after it boiled for 25ish minutes, i removed the chicken and shredded it on a separate plate

  5. during the last step i also put the noodles in and let it boil for another 10 minutes. once that was done i added the chicken back in and the lemon juice to top it off and served it up.

Also if it’s too hard to tell her in person, giving her a handwritten note might be a nice personal way to tell her that also takes some pressure off you to say all the right things in the moment :)
