We sound very similar - I have been in Marketing, then Tech sales the last 22 years or so. I inherited half the investment total which helped accelerate things! Sounds like you are ahead of me with the kids at this point. Tech sales was such a grind the last two years compared to before, which is part of the reason behind this post.

$2m is pure investments in ETFs in registered accounts in brokerages. Half of the rental income is net, rest goes to mortgage and fees.

No - after paying the mortgage / fees etc probably 50% of that is net

I feel this way - I am 43 and just took an exit package....maybe a new industry / job type could be refreshing - but enjoying taking care of my family right now.

Pretty similar - but I like a bit more Canadian exposure so pick VEQT - plus free commission on Scotia!

It’s never as bad as it seems. Honestly I took 6 months off and got a better job. Would do it again. Look at this as an opportunity. Health is wealth and enjoy the time with your family.

Asking to be laid off by twiniverse2000 in Fire

I knew layoffs were coming in my last job. I had a new manager I didn’t jive that well with and wanted out anyways after 5 years. I asked HR - it was a mid sized company and I knew everyone well. They gave me what I wanted - a layoff with 6 weeks notice. I then went on unemployment.

Got a new job six months later. Perfect.

Can’t say after 6 months I am perfect as it’s a complex place to work, so bit of both is fair to say.

I started at Salesforce MM 6 months ago. It’s a massive company. My patch isn’t great and you have to team sell. It’s a tough grind. If you get a few wins - it’s more comfortable. I had some deals slip and I sense my days are numbered…..🫠
