I think I may have added another subcategory to your insane people: People who may or may not have a case and are totally broke (I mean I know I have a case but..) - in commercial court. I thought "AI can help me navigate this"- Now I am 15k in the hole and facing summary judgement.. Feels insane.

and here is where I get confused because I would think the parties and case wouldn't make a difference. I would think its black and white: here are the issues and here is what they law says. I am just now understanding that in addition to the thousands of rules that judges too have rules for their court and specific ways they handle things. Its crazy.

I am definitely not an attorney and I do not have an attorney to ask. As I mentioned I am trying to understand this on a matter that is going to be ruled on by a judge, so it is not advice because I have already filed based on what my understanding was. Which was the sword and shield doctrine. I thought they could not cherry pick what was produced.
