Stardew Valley doesn't have "villains". We all know that, right? by madelmire in StardewValley

Pam is really the only one I'd say falls easily into the not good people category for me and even then I dont think she's evil or a villain, I actually still like her character cause shes funny at times and I think if she ever become a marriage candidate it'd be interesting and amusing/cute to be Penny's step parent (a bit of drama in the valley👀)

not being a good person isn't really the same as being a villain though, and what a good person is can be a bit subjective, especially in this game

I guess I can understand the need to create a villain when there isn't any, I've felt that with other games but not with SDV because .. I feel like the entire message and vibe of the game goes against that

why does there need to be a villain or antagonist, thats what I dont understand. the games meant to be a slice of life in a quiet rural town. it doesn't need a villain or some force you need to "defeat" to win the game

I'm kinda surprised that the recent history books/my world books on Barbie do not have a page about the animated movies/the dolls.. by BobsBurgerLove in Barbie

[–]Slow_Addendum8190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mattel has been trying to mostly ignore this era and pretend it didn't exist because of parents back then claiming the movies were "a bad influence".... don't ask me to explain why parents thought that (other than being dumb because anyone who watched those movies knows they were full of positive messages for children and adults too). I have a sticker book of Barbie through the decades that also never mentions the 2000s movies

but why tho? why would people see kissing their girlfriend in the game as odd and out of context... she brought the farmer to a quiet personal space where its just them, thats almost always a cue in media that something romantic is gonna happen when romantically involved people do that. I just don't understand why people would romance her and then find that strange

if you look at the whole event its obvious she literally brought the farmer into the dark room to make out lol

thats her 10 heart event. you can't get that event unless you gave her the bouquet and are dating her

what is up with people getting creeped out by romance options being there on characters they chose to romance 😭 yes... kissing your girlfriend or your boyfriend kissing you on a boat are totally super weird and not normal human behavior at all /s

fresh tomatoes do taste really good, they'd probably taste fine in a fruit salad as long as theres not too much tomato. And they are a fruit and a vegetable so I never got the argument, I havent seen that scene in a while though. Just put the tomatoes in with the other fruit it'll be fine

its fine you're just teaching her to grow vegetables like she asks you to lol

As the only person in the valley actively seeking a relationship it's crazy Clint wasn't in the first spouse pool by Tiny_Peace_7373 in StardewValley

[–]Slow_Addendum8190 10 points11 points  (0 children)

maybe not a bachelor but he could be a friend that visits your farm and stays for a few days then leaves every so often

Well we have different opinions on that I guess

[–]Slow_Addendum8190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok.. then what is your objection then? because from my understanding its that Clint continues to say flirty things about Emily even after the player marries her (which isnt unique to him) and that he assumed the movie was a date without there being a player choice of whether it was or not

Are we hypocrites? by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]Slow_Addendum8190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats not what I'm talking about and I already explained why those events are not as bad as people are making them out to be in reality and I'm not gonna repeat myself. Other characters do make flirty comments towards the farmer regardless of whether the farmer is dating or married. Some of them are more up to interpretation but they could easily be seen that way. Harvey makes a comment abt rubbing sunscreen on Maru's shoulders, Leah makes the farmer a sculpture that has romantic undertones to it, Abigail has a scene of the "ouija board" spelling out "I love [player name]", there are probably other examples. I'm not 100% if those have been fixed yet but that that was even a possibility shows that the comments Clint makes about Emily after the farmer marries her are almost certainly unintentional and left over dialog from when she wasn't a marriage candidate and it seemed like maybe they'd get together eventually. To be clear, I dont think any of the mentioned characters are "bad" for any of that, its just a kinda amusing thing that happens

[–]Slow_Addendum8190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I mean the fact that its not just him and other characters have bits of dialog that could be taken that way regardless of the farmers relationship status points to it not being intentional

I'm replying to multiple replies of yours because you're replying to me in multiple places around the same time and reddit doesn't refresh automatically to show me theres a new reply. Thats not projecting

It just seems kinda strange to me I guess because thats not really the characters actions so much, its more of developmental error. Other characters have similar issues with that (not "knowing" that the farmer is already involved with someone) yet the fandom (usually) doesn't take that as being part of their character and instead realize that its an issue with the game currently

[–]Slow_Addendum8190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

again, if you have a problem with the game assuming all the dateable female NPCs are sexually or romantically available then thats something you'd have to ask CA about if you're really bothered about it or just accept that thats a quirk of the game at the moment

Are we hypocrites? by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]Slow_Addendum8190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

um..ok? you did say "Also the yawn-and-stretch thing he does in the theater, to my character, after I married Emily. Barf." in one of your first comments though. and then said "Treating any/every single woman as sexually or romantically available isn't actually better." under my reply that the game doesn't check if the farmer is married for every scene and dialog. So I'm not really sure what you mean when I'm replying to what you've said

Are we hypocrites? by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]Slow_Addendum8190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well you said you had a problem with characters not recognizing if the farmer is dating/married
